Financial Controller

Overview We are partnering with a rapidly growing, technology-enabled specialty finance company that is expanding its corporate finance organization. Reporting directly to the CFO, this is a high-impact leadership opportunity for an experienced accounting professional looking to play a key role in scaling a sophisticated financial platform. This position goes beyond traditional controllership. The ideal candidate will help strengthen accounting operations, modernize financial processes, improve automation, and support strategic growth initiatives as the organization continues to expand over the next several years. Responsibilities Lead the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes while ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting. Oversee the general ledger, account reconciliations, financial statement preparation, and GAAP compliance. Manage external audits, internal controls, and support tax and regulatory reporting. Drive accounting process improvements, automation initiatives, and ERP/system enhancements to improve efficiency and scalability. Partner closely with executive leadership to support budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, and business decision-making. Build and mentor a high-performing accounting team while establishing best practices across the finance function. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support continued organizational growth and operational excellence. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. CPA strongly preferred. 6–12 years of progressive accounting experience. Current or recent experience as a Controller, Assistant Controller, Corporate Controller, or Senior Accounting Manager. Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, internal controls, and audit management. Experience leading month-end close and managing accounting operations. Demonstrated success implementing process improvements, accounting automation, or ERP systems. Experience within financial services, fintech, specialty finance, banking, private credit, asset-based lending, or other complex, high-volume transaction environments is highly preferred. Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Preferred Background We\'re especially interested in professionals who have followed one of these career paths: Big 4 or public accounting experience followed by progressive corporate accounting leadership.
