Patient Access Specialist - Part-time

Position: Patient Access Specialist – Entry Level Location: Tower – Pottstown Hospital, Pottstown, PA (Onsite) Compensation: $17.00 – $18.15 per hour, based on experience. Bonus incentives, paid certifications, tuition reimbursement and comprehensive benefits are included. Job Responsibilities Assign accurate MRNs and complete medical necessity/compliance checks. Gather and verify patient insurance information and other demographic details, process physician orders, and utilize an overlay tool. Operate the telephone switchboard for incoming, outgoing and inter-office calls. Provide excellent customer service measured by Press Ganey, maintaining a compassionate tone during interactions. Meet point‑of‑service (POS) collection goals and ensure timely, accurate billing. Utilize quality auditing and reporting systems to correct accounts, conduct audits, and provide statistical data to leadership. Pre‑register patient accounts prior to visits, including inbound and outbound calls for demographic, insurance and financial liability collection. Explain and obtain signatures on general consent for treatment forms, and distribute patient education documents (e.g., Important Message from Medicare, Tricare, Observation Forms, MOON form, Consent forms). Review eligibility responses in the insurance verification system, select the applicable plan code, and enter benefit data to support POS collections and billing for a clean claim rate. Screen for medical necessity using the Advanced Beneficiary Notice (ABN) software, inform Medicare patients of potential non‑payment, and distribute ABN as appropriate. Distribute and document other designated forms and pamphlets. Experience and Qualifications Minimum 1+ year of customer service experience. High School Diploma or GED (minimum education). Must be inquisitive and open to innovation, including the use of AI to improve processes and enhance the patient/client experience.
