As an IPA Officer, you’ll work at the frontline of lawful disclosure—ensuring sensitive information is handled accurately, securely, and in compliance with legislation. Every action you take will directly support law enforcement investigations, including time-critical and life-at-risk situations, making a real difference to people and communities across the UK.Process and manage lawful requests under the Investigatory Powers Act (IPA), ensuring full compliance with legal and internal requirementsDeliver accurate and timely responses within strict statutory SLAs, supporting critical investigationsValidate requests to ensure they meet legal standards before processing, safeguarding responsible data accessRetrieve, interpret, and securely disclose communications data using approved systems with a “right first time” approachHandle sensitive information with the highest levels of confidentiality, adhering to security policies and the Official Secrets ActMaintain detailed and accurate records to support audit, regulatory, and operational requirementsAct as a key point of contact for law enforcement and internal stakeholders, responding professionally and escalating complex cases where neededWork within a 24/7 shift-based environment, including nights, weekends, and bank holidaysBuild your expertise through structured training, becoming confident in applying legislation and handling disclosures at paceContribute to continuous improvement by identifying ways to enhance processes, controls, and operational efficiencySupport collaboration and engagement across teams, including opportunities to work closely with law enforcement partnersWho you areExperience handling lawful requests or working in a regulated, compliance-driven environmentUnderstanding (or willingness to develop knowledge) of the Investigatory Powers Act and related legal frameworksStrong attention to detail, with a track record of delivering accurate, high-quality outputsA high level of integrity and discretion when handling sensitive and confidential informationAbility to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced, time-critical environmentClear and confident communication skills, able to convey technical or legal information accuratelyExperience in maintaining accurate records and supporting audit or compliance requirementsA proactive, self-driven approach, with the ability to work independently when neededWillingness to work flexible shift patterns, including nights, weekends, and on-call arrangementsA collaborative mindset with a willingness to learn, grow, and contribute to a supportive team environmentEligibility and willingness to obtain and maintain Security Check (SC) clearanceWorried that you don’t meet all the desired criteria exactly?We know that everyone is unique, with multiple aspects to their identity and different experiences behind them.
