Assistant Kitchen Manager

The Durham- Kitchen & Cocktails. We are looking for a leader to assist the kitchen manager in all production. We need that person to be able to train line cooks to the specifications and standards established. You must maintain patience, remain calm during the rush, and have a strong desire to teach and mentor staff. You potentially could work long days during busy times. Excellent opportunity for future growth for the right candidate. We pay $20-25 per hour for experienced cooks plus 4% of food sales go to the back of the house. ResponsibilitiesHelp in the preparation and design of all food and drinks menusProduce high quality plates both design and taste wiseEnsure that the kitchen operates in a timely way that meets our quality standardsFill in for the Executive Chef in planning and directing food preparation when necessaryResourcefully solve any issues that arise and seize control of any problematic situationManage and train kitchen staff, establish working schedule and assess staffs performanceOrder supplies to stock inventory appropriatelyComply with and enforce sanitation regulations and safety standardsMaintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customersSkillsMinimum 5 years kitchen experience Understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment and proceduresExcellent record of kitchen and staff managementAble to take the lead and solve problems in a busy work environmentAccuracy and speed in handling emergency situations and providing solutionsFamiliar with industrys best practicesWorking knowledge of various computer software programs (MS Office, restaurant management software, POS)BS degree in Culinary science or related certificate would be a plusOpen scheduleBenefits:Health InsuranceDental InsuranceVision InsuranceDiscounted Gym MembershipEmployee Discount401K MatchingShift Meal and drink
