Lecturer AY – Nutrition and Food Science Temporary faculty pool – positions filled as needed based on student enrollment and funding. Candidates may need to begin teaching on short notice. The Fall term runs from late August to mid‑December, the Spring term from mid‑January to mid‑May, and may include Summer Sessions. Subject Areas Nutrition and Health Nutrition Education and Counseling Metabolism Community Nutrition Food Service Food Chemistry and Analysis Sensory Evaluation Food Safety and Food Microbiology Food Engineering and Processing Food Packaging Food Product Development Responsibilities Teach assigned division courses in the department’s curriculum and serve weekly office hours based on the assigned teaching unit load. Assignments may include in‑person day, evening, and/or weekend courses, as well as hybrid and/or fully online courses. Required Qualifications A Master’s degree in Nutrition, Food Science, or a related discipline that aligns with the curriculum. Preferred Qualifications A Ph.D. in Nutrition, Public Health, Food Science, or a related discipline. Prior teaching experience at the college or university level and the ability to provide evidence of strong teaching. Salary and Benefit Information Initial rank and salary for lecturer faculty are based on professional experience and educational background and are determined by the hiring department. Initial appointments are for one semester only. The full‑time (15 units per semester) monthly base salaries indicated above are prorated to the number of units worked and are paid in six monthly payments for each full semester. Anticipated hiring ranks and salary ranges (as of July2024) are: Lecturer A: $5,507 – $6,677 per month Lecturer B: $6,221 – $13,224 per month Lecturer C: $6,825 – $14,523 per month Lecturer D: $8,593 – $15,211 per month CalPolyPomona offers a competitive total compensation benefits package for employees and qualifying dependents, including medical, dental, vision, retirement, and tuition assistance. Faculty are expected to establish an on‑campus presence to fulfill their responsibilities.
