Project Accountant

GARNEY

A Project Accountant position is available at Garney. The Project Accountant is responsible for managing project finances, including job costing, budgeting, billing, and financial reporting for construction projects. Partners with project managers and operations teams to monitor costs, ensure compliance, and support the overall financial success of each project.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

• Maintain and monitor project job costs, ensuring accurate expense coding, cost allocation, and reconciliations
• Assist with project budgeting, forecasting, and analysis of cost variances to support profitability
• Prepare and process project billing (AIA, progress, and T&M invoices), while managing retainage and revenue recognition
• Review and process subcontractor and vendor invoices, track receivables, and support collections activities
• Analyze project financial performance and assist with month-end and year-end financial reporting
• Support contract compliance, change order tracking, and adherence to company policies and regulatory requirements
• Partner with project managers, estimators, and operations teams to provide financial insights and project support

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.3+ years of accounting experience required; construction industry experience preferred
• Experience with job costing, project accounting, and construction accounting practices
• CPA, CMA, or other relevant professional certifications preferred
• Proficiency with accounting software such as Viewpoint and Procore, plus advanced Excel skills
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational abilities with exceptional attention to detail
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with knowledge of construction contracts and cost structures
