Youth Counselor (Counseling Service YMCA)

Position Overview The Staten Island YMCA – Counseling Service is seeking a Youth Counselor to work under the supervision of the Program Director. The role is part‑time (regular) and will be based at the Staten Island YMCA Counseling Service Center, Staten Island, NY. Key Responsibilities Facilitate sessions and clinical activities, including outreach/engagement, screenings, assessments, group, individual, family, and crisis interventions. Coordinate care for the designated caseload, manage case documentation, referrals, and reporting. Conduct treatment planning, discharge planning, and determine appropriate level of care. Participate in diagnosis, progress note development, and clinical documentation in consultation with the clinical supervisor. Manage census administration, case retention, family support, fee collection, and outreach presentations. Coordinate with other professionals, collaborate with community coalition meetings, and attend training opportunities. Conduct urine and saliva toxicology drug screens. Maintain compliance with contracts, regulations, and clinical standards. Serve as Manager‑On‑Duty or alternate clinician when necessary. Supervise interns and volunteers when appropriate and provide guidance in the absence of an on‑site supervisor. Actively participate in training sessions and designated meetings. Desired Skills & Experience CASAC‑T, CASAC Provisional, or any level CASAC is required. MHC, MSW, MFT, MHC‑LP, MSW‑LP, MFT‑LP, LMSW, LMHC, or LCSW preferred. Minimum of two (2) years of treatment experience. Knowledge of the criminal justice system, treatment court, and child welfare systems. Knowledge of motivational interviewing and trauma‑informed care. Knowledge of mental health, CBT, and other evidence‑based treatment modalities. Bilingual preferred.
