Position Overview

The RN Clinical Nurse plays a vital role as part of a collaborative team of licensed and unlicensed caregivers, ensuring that patients, families, and significant others receive personalized, high-quality, and safe care. This role operates within a clinical setting overseen by Nurse Managers and other leaders, supported by our Shared Governance Model. The practice framework is guided by our Professional Practice Model, emphasizing evidence-based practices and research. All RN Clinical Nurses are expected to be licensed, knowledgeable, and adhere to the standards set forth by the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act, as well as the Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics established by the American Nurses Association. As a member of the patient services team, you will advocate for the patient’s voice while adhering to system policies and striving for service excellence.

Core Responsibilities

• Exemplary Practice and Outcomes:
  • Utilize the Nursing Process (assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation) to deliver clinical care based on evidence-based practices, ensuring individualized care and effective coordination.
  • Provide patient-centered care that respects population-specific characteristics (e.g., age, gender, health conditions) and cultural diversity.
  • Engage with patients and their significant others appropriately, using methods such as bedside shift reports and interdisciplinary rounds to keep them informed and focused on their care goals.
  • Adhere to current clinical practice standards.
• Teamwork and Collaboration:
  • Coordinate and document safe, quality patient care that aligns with the professional care delivery model, utilizing diverse communication methods and ensuring timely documentation.
  • Foster teamwork by practicing fiscal responsibility and supporting the recruitment and retention of healthcare team members.
  • Engage in performance improvement initiatives, research, and shared governance to enhance patient care quality.
• Professional Development:
  • Complete all required professional competency assessments and ongoing education.
  • Act as a preceptor or mentor for other nurses and staff to ensure a qualified workforce and promote a healthy work environment.
• Evidence-Based Practice and Research:
  • Encourage evidence-based practices and nursing research, participating in value analysis for patient care products.
  • Comply with all organizational policies, legal, regulatory, and accreditation standards, including safety goals.
  • Engage in data collection and consult experts to address clinical practice questions.
• Resource Management:
  • Plan proactively for patient care across the continuum while providing direct care.
  • Collaborate with care managers and team members to develop protocols aimed at achieving best practice outcomes.
  • Support the efficient use of human and material resources.

Other duties may be assigned as necessary. Compliance with all organizational policies, work standards, and the code of conduct is expected.

Qualifications

• Education:
  • Associate's Degree in Nursing or Diploma in Nursing required; Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred.
• Licenses and Certifications:
  • Registered Nurse (Single State or Multi-State Compact) required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required upon hire.
• Experience:
  • A minimum of 5 years of RN experience in direct patient care is required.
• Skills:
  • Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English; basic computer skills are essential.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and respond to emergencies with composure and respect.
  • Excellent time management and critical thinking skills, utilizing evidence and analytical abilities in nursing practice.
