Staff Accountant

Staff Accountant Responsible for managing all accounts receivable and accounts payable, assisting the Controller in directing financial activities of the hotel, safeguarding assets, and preparing all financial reports in accordance with GAAP and hotel standards. Responsibilities Oversee day‑to‑day finance operations Assist with account collections and account aging Monitor and manage relationships with vendors Handle all vendor inquiries and reconcile vendor statements Manage all client inquiry/requests for financial information Research and resolve guest bill inquiries Manage group clients from a financial standpoint from inception to completion of program Work with hotel accounting systems including Opera, Great Plains, and Micros Prepare and post month‑end closing entries Produce and distribute monthly financial packets Perform balance sheet reconciliations Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual taxes Process all approved invoices for payment, ensuring all appropriate signatures and back‑up are included Sort and verify accuracy of Night Audit work, including reconciliation of banquet check extensions, coding of banquets at cost, and reviewing and routing sales and promotion checks with back‑up Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred Previous experience in finance required Previous experience with Opera preferred A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in customer service Excellent written and verbal communication skills required Strong analytical skills required Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook Physical Requirements Most work tasks are performed indoors in a moderate, temperature‑controlled environment. The employee must be able to sit at a desk for up to 8 hours a day, walk or stand occasionally, and lift up to 15 lbs. The position requires manual dexterity, grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening, hearing ability, and visual acuity.
