DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position supports the strategic work of the Energy Programs Office by coordinating major program, policy, and reporting efforts across multiple initiatives. As a Chief of Staff (Environmental Group Manager), you will perform the following duties:
- Program Coordination: Coordinate activities across energy, climate, and financing programs to ensure consistent work planning and timely progress
- Review Authority: Approve reports, materials, and policy documents on behalf of the Director while ensuring accuracy and alignment with standards
- Issue Analysis: Research complex operational challenges and develop solutions that support program goals and improve performance
- Interagency Work: Collaborate with senior officials, program staff, and external partners to advance shared initiatives and resolve issues
- Project Leadership: Represent the Director in cross departmental meetings and guide efforts that address statewide priorities
- Policy Guidance: Interpret laws, regulations, and procedures while helping staff apply requirements in daily operations
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Occasional travel for outreach events
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 3 days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- A bachelor's degree in the biological, physical, or environmental sciences, engineering, or in a field closely related to environmental protection or regulation; and five years of professional environmental protection experience; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
