Maintenance Technician

2nd Shift Location: Muskegon, MI Salary Range: $23.21 to $33.16 This position is governed by the collective bargaining agreement of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers. Shift assignments resulting from the upcoming bidding process are subject to change based on seniority considerations in accordance with union contract provisions. Final shift assignments cannot be guaranteed. Summary This position is responsible for the repair and maintenance of mechanical and hydraulic components of production machines and equipment such as metal fabricating machines, machine tools, material handling systems and automated lubrication systems, assuring that equipment and machinery are in proper operating condition to maximize production and minimize downtime. The position also covers general building maintenance. Duties and Responsibilities Complete periodic machine tool preventive maintenance to ensure machine availability and reliability performance. Troubleshoot, repair and overhaul electrical/mechanical systems like pumps, gearboxes, ball screws, slide assemblies and other drive mechanisms. Use measuring equipment including micrometers, calipers and dial indicators. Complete fabrication projects from drawings using tool room equipment such as engine lathe, milling machine, drill press and welding equipment. Perform installation and set‑up of new equipment as necessary. Operate forklift when required. Work with CMMS system to record work orders and preventive maintenance schedules. Maintain a clean and safe environment, identifying unsafe conditions. Diagnose/repair low voltage and control circuits (less than 240 VAC). Disassemble and assemble electrical wires, connections, conduit, motors, controls, etc. on de‑energized machinery and equipment. Participate in continuous improvement (lean) activities as may be assigned or required. Perform other duties and assignments as scheduled or required. Requirements and Qualifications Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a manufacturing environment performing repairs to machinery, basic equipment and general facility maintenance. High School Diploma or GED minimum. Experience with CNC machine repair is highly preferred. High degree of mechanical aptitude and ability to work with hand tools (welding, wrenches, etc.) in mechanically oriented situations. Good working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, construction, hydraulics, and pneumatics. Ability to read, write and follow detailed written instructions. Ability to lift up to 40 pounds, stand, sit, bend and move freely about the plant. Steel‑toed or composite shoes and ANSI approved safety glasses with side shields are required.
