Intellectual Property Associate

Varnum LLP seeks to hire an Associate Attorney to join the Intellectual Property Practice Team in one of our Michigan offices. Our IP attorneys handle a wide range of patent, trademark, and other intellectual property matters, including both prosecution and litigation, and regularly appear before the United States Patent and Trademark Office, as well as in state and federal courts, administrative proceedings, and appellate courts throughout Michigan and the Midwest. This is a unique opportunity to join a thriving law firm and a highly successful team of attorneys. This associate will assist the team on a variety of intellectual property matters, with a focus on patent prosecution and IP litigation. The ideal candidate will have two to four years of experience in patent prosecution, IP litigation, or a combination of both. Candidates with experience in one area and a demonstrated interest in developing skills in the other are also encouraged to apply. A technical background in computer science or electrical engineering is required. The candidate must be registered to practice before the USPTO or possess the educational and technical prerequisites necessary to sit for the USPTO registration examination. Successful candidates will possess excellent academic credentials; the ability to simultaneously juggle multiple projects and deadlines while maintaining a high level of responsiveness; exceptional attention to detail; and outstanding customer/client service skills. Admission to the Michigan bar is required.
