POSITION SUMMARY

The Vice President, Accounting serves as a key financial leader within the management company, providing strategic oversight and hands-on execution across tax compliance and planning, and accounting operations. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer and working in closely with the Managing Partners, this individual plays a critical role in driving financial visibility, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance across the organization.

This position requires a highly analytical, detail-oriented, and collaborative professional who thrives in a dynamic environment and can translate complex financial data into actionable insights for senior leadership.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Tax Compliance & Planning

• Oversee all federal, state, and local tax compliance obligations for the management company, ensuring timely and accurate filings.

• Coordinate with external tax advisors and auditors on complex tax matters, audits, and filings.

• Develop and implement tax planning strategies to optimize the company’s effective tax rate and minimize tax risk.

• Monitor changes in tax legislation and regulations, assessing their impact on the company and communicating implications to leadership.

• Manage transfer pricing, intercompany arrangements, and related-party transaction documentation as applicable.

• Ensure proper tax provision calculations and disclosures in financial statements.

Accounting Operations

• Direct all day-to-day management company accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll accounting, and fixed assets.

• Lead the monthly and annual budgeting and multi-year financial planning processes for the management company, coordinating inputs across all departments.

• Develop, maintain, and continuously improve management company financial models, forecasts, and scenario analyses to support strategic decision-making.

• Ensure the timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.

• Maintain and strengthen internal controls, policies, and procedures to safeguard company assets and ensure financial integrity.

• Lead the coordination of annual financial audits and serve as the primary liaison with external auditors.

• Oversee the month-end and year-end close processes, continuously identifying opportunities to streamline and reduce cycle times.

• Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and financial metrics, identifying trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.

Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Serve as a strategic financial partner to the CFO and COO, translating financial data into clear, actionable recommendations.

• Build and maintain strong working relationships across departments to support data integrity and cross-functional financial initiatives.

• Evaluate, implement, and optimize financial systems and technology solutions to enhance reporting capabilities and operational efficiency.

• Maintain a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement within the finance and accounting function.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Certification

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; Master’s degree (MBA or MAcc) preferred.

• CPA designation strongly preferred.

Experience

• Minimum of 4-7 years of progressive accounting and finance experience, with experience in a management role.

• Proven experience in tax compliance/planning, and accounting operations, ideally within a management company, financial services, or real estate environment.

• Experience managing external auditor relationships and coordinating audit processes.

• Strong background in reporting, internal controls, and analytical work.

Skills & Competencies

• Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and financial modeling skills.

• High proficiency in accounting systems, advanced Excel skills required, experience with Microsoft Dynamics Business Central a plus.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.

• Demonstrated ability to lead and develop teams in a fast-paced, results-driven environment.

• Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously.

• Collaborative, proactive, and solutions-oriented mindset with strong business acumen.
