This role creates a repeatable and scalable process to identify and analyze new opportunities through asset acquisition, lease-up contracts, and management change opportunities as well as grow current partnerships for a strategic fit against current and future business goals. The associate vice president of client strategy is responsible for managing all processes leading up to finalizing partnerships including prospecting, initial contact, deal analysis, full underwiring, physical asset evaluation, broker, and client collaboration, creating and formalizing pitch presentations, and assisting local operators and internal support teams in finalizing the property integration.Primary Responsibilities and Objectives:Direct and coordinate all phases of the company growth process including lead development, underwriting, market assessment, and identification of suitable assets to manageResponsible for assisting regional leadership in implementing a strategic plan for the pursuit of new businessEnsure that the company and client financial and business objectives are being achievedResponsible for determining the operational and financial potential of prospective management opportunitiesCoordinate with regional leadership for potential deal analysis within their regionsProvide financial underwriting and valuation assistance to new clients who are pursuing potential acquisitionsAssist leadership with identifying market changes and procurement of new management opportunitiesUnderstand the market landscape including pricing trends, competitor strengths and weaknesses, new development pipeline, and related impact and client requirementsMaintain an expert knowledge of features, functionality, and benefits for all Avenue5 products and servicesParticipate in multifamily conferences and symposiumsPerform other duties as assignedEducation and Experience:Bachelor's degree is requiredFive or more years of experience in multi-family property management client strategy, business development, or related field is requiredThree to five years of experience in RealPage and/or Yardi software is requiredThree to five years of experience with analyzing and underwriting market rate, affordable, value-add or lease-up properties is requiredProficient in ExcelReal Estate license as required by state or local lawKnowledge of profit and loss statements, general ledgers, rent rolls, market surveys, balance sheets, cash flow projections, budgeting templates, etc. is preferredFamiliarity with industry-related business intelligence tools is preferredSkills and Requirements:Ability to facilitate presentations concisely with strong visuals and solid analysis as well as be a persuasive presenterProven track record of developing compelling business cases for clientsExcellent ability to work effectively in a team atmosphere as both a role player and leaderAbility to clearly and effectively articulate complex financial and strategic concepts on the spotKnowledge of market rate stabilized garden, mid-rise, and high-rise assets as well as lease-up development and value-add asset typesPolitically savvy with strong negotiation, problem-solving, and project management skillsUnderstanding of property management industry trends, issues, and emerging technologyUnderstanding of area key economic indicators and the impact on short and long-term strategies for different asset typesTrack record of accomplishments and high-impact results in Multifamily or other related industryAbility to work at both the strategic and tactical levelsDemonstrated ability to prioritize and allocate resources in a dynamic, execution-oriented mannerAdvanced knowledge with Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel skillsExcellent written and verbal communication skills, with superb follow-up skillsAbility to work independently and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment with a strong sense of urgencyStrong organizational and time management skillsAbility to create a climate in which associates want to exude their best by leading and communicating a shared vision with associates and providing coaching and developmentAbility to set goals and consistently meet deadlinesKnowledge of federal fair housing laws and any applicable local housing provisionsAbility to be always reachable via phone except during approved time offAbility to drive an automobile and maintain a current driver's license and automobile insuranceOther licenses and/or certifications are required by state lawRequired to complete and successfully pass the Avenue5 Fair Housing and Preventing Discrimination and Harassment training and other courses if assignedScheduling:Required to maintain a regular schedule which may require working overtime, weekends, and non-traditional holidaysAbility to travel overnight (75%)Environment:Exposure to an environment typically found in an office buildingPhysical Requirements:Avenue5 will make reasonable accommodations to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
