Chief Financial Officer

Job Description BMS Moving & Storage, Agents for Bekins Van Lines, within the Bekins/Wheaton system, one of America’s largest and most respected moving and storage companies, is seeking a talented, resourceful and committed Controller to join our fast-paced energetic team! We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced CFO to join our team. The CFO will be responsible for managing the daily accounting, billing and financial operations. This includes but is not limited to, maintaining a close eye on the organization’s finances, overseeing daily accounting and billing operations, and leadership and development of the team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of GAAP principles, leadership experience and possess excellent interpersonal and analytical skills. Essential Duties and Attributes: Directs the company’s accounting and financial activities and is responsible for quality assurance for these functions Prepares monthly and year-end financial statements and operating reports with accuracy and timeliness Review of trial balance and balance sheets at month-end Analyze expenses and monthly trends Review and prepare month-end closing Preparation, review, and control of journal entries and postings to the general ledger Train and oversee the accounting and office staff of 15 employees Review and make recommendations on improving internal controls to improve financial condition Year-end financial review. Prepare year end work papers and coordinate with outside auditing firm to complete the annual review Communicate with our outside tax accounting firm to provide estimated book earnings so that income tax payments can be calculated Prepare month-end financial reports including Balance Sheet, P&L, Gross Profit analysis and an analytical review for owners Experience & Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required. (MBA or CPA preferred) Proven experience as a CFO or senior financial leader in a small to mid-sized company, preferably in the trucking, transportation, or logistics industry Strong leadership experience, preferably managing a team. Must have excellent communication skills and demonstrate leadership in team building and motivation Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial analysis, and internal controls Proficiency in financial management software and advanced MS Office skills Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities, with keen attention to detail Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines Knowledge of relevant financial regulations and compliance requirements Strong knowledge of GAAP and FASB pronouncements Our dynamic work environment offers a competitive compensation package and excellent career opportunities. #J-18808-Ljbffr
