The technical engineering lead will be a hands-on lead engineer with technical/business acumen and lead experience that excels in a structured, dynamic, fast-moving environment and is passionate about developing high quality, high performance, and scalable solutions. The candidate will lead and work aside a team of seasoned engineers whose main objective is to maintain all aspects of the system health and ensure the on-time, quality delivery of software releases.This position will be part of the Operational Data Exchange (ODX) Technology team within the Schwab Data organization focusing on providing Operational Intelligence and Insights, and position Schwab to remain a Data Driven organization using a world class Data Exchange (DX) platform. The DX support various critical business functions and business units – Schwab Technology Services (STS), Audit, Corporate Tax, Risk, Compliance, etc. This is a role for someone who is passionate and excited to learn/understand corporate systems, focus on basics and streamline existing system to make it stable, and build a future state data platform that is going to be pivotal to drive client-centricity, reducing time to market, scale & increasing efficiency. This is a unique opportunity to grow and transform our business through driving significant step-change in our time to market, building more stable integrated solutions, and enabling project success via cross-functional coordination and ownership.This position could sit in Austin, TX or Southlake, TXIn this role you will:Provide technical and project leadership to data pipeline development.Understand the needs of the business and using this knowledge to align on a solution and drive deliveryDrive Agile development supporting organization priorities and innovation.Collaborate with analysts, and other stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver tailored solutions.Design, implement, and optimize end-to-end data pipelines for ingesting, processing, and transforming large volumes of structured and unstructured data.Develop robust ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes to integrate data from diverse sources into our data ecosystem. Implement data validation and quality checks to ensure accuracy and consistencyMentoring junior team members to ensure team and project success.Implement data security controls and access management policies to protect sensitive information.Drive outcomes and team performance and collaborate with all to achieve results.Work closely with development, product owner and team members to decompose stories, design features, and prioritize tasks.Effectively navigate cross-functional communication to ensure alignment between teams and within one team. Cultivate a culture of open feedback that promotes accountability for getting better together.Collaborate with other shared functions to support application support and automation for deployments.Interface with product owner and key stakeholders in Project Management, Business, Development, QA and Technology Operations to ensure high quality delivery of software projects on time.Identify technology risks and dependencies early to establish mitigation plans.Create and maintain artifacts for production support and deployment processes and ensure smooth hand off to support teams. Meet periodically with onshore and offshore developers and application support to review and improve processes.Demonstrated ability to disagree, debate your case with data, and commit to deliver regardless of the outcome.What you haveRequiredExpertise in ETL development, Data Quality, Best Practices, Exception HandlingSQL, Google Cloud Products including BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Dataflow, Composer, Pub/Sub, SQL Server Integration ServicesExpertise in Informatica (IDMC/IICS) and Python coding skillsUsed AI in development lifecycle to gain efficiencyBusiness Analysis experience to perform data analysis to translate business requirements to data mappingExceptional track record in delivering results and business outcomesExperience in maturing teams at different levelsMasters or bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology or similar/equivalent area of studyMinimum of 3 years working in the financial services industry.Minimum of 8 years of solid data engineering experience.Minimum of 2 years project lead experience in matrixed organizationStrong understanding of Data Warehouse concepts (star schema, slowly changing dimensions, fact/dimension modeling) and Operational Data Exchanges/Stores.Solid understanding of data lifecycle, metadata management, and governance standards.Strong communication and stakeholder management skills across technical and non-technical audiences.Willingness to learn new skills and keep up with technology changes in future to meet business needs.Prior experience working in an onshore offshore model driving development outcomes.PreferredExperience working with and sourcing data from Corporate Systems like Workday, BMC Remedy Helix, Jira, Rally, etc. Experience providing guidance, direction, and feedback to other technical staff to meet agreed upon objectives.Ability to analyze, propose and implement timely, effective, quality solutions for all issues or problems within area of responsibility.Excellent verbal and written communication skills required for composing and delivering technical presentations or other forms of documentation to various levels of technical and non-technical management.Proficient managing multiple priorities in a well-organized, dynamic, geographically dispersed environmentStrong understanding of Data pipelines and patternsExperience in dev tools such as GitHub, Bamboo, Liquibase In addition to the salary range, this role is also eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities.This position will be in Southlake, TX.Job SummaryRequisition ID: 2026-122269Posted Date: 5 days ago(7/27/2026 6:08 PM)Category: Engineering & Software DevelopmentSalary Range: USD $125,000.00 - $140,000.00 / YearApplication deadline: 8/7/2026Position Type: Full time
