Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Must possess a valid nursing license Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Experience in Medical and Surgical Intensive Care Units Ability to interpret and manage dysrhythmias Experience with management of patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure Proficiency in central venous pressure monitoring and pulmonary artery line monitoring Experience with chronic and acute renal failure management Ability to manage arterial lines and blood product administration Proficiency in IV starts and management, including continuous sedation Experience in respiratory failure management and ventilator management Knowledge of infection prevention and isolation precautions Proficient in phlebotomy and wound care Description: The role requires a registered nurse to work in a multidisciplinary intensive care unit. The patient-nurse ratio is 1:2 in this unit. The position involves the care of patients with conditions such as respiratory failure, ARDS, acute chest pain, cardiac arrest, DKA, multi-organ failure, and sepsis. It includes pre and post-operative care for cardiac, thoracic, and abdominal surgeries. Candidates should have strong cardiac knowledge as fresh heart cases are handled in this department, but travel RNs will not take fresh cases. The unit also serves as a medicine and neuro-medicine overflow, providing pre and post-transplant care and end-of-life/organ donation services. Special equipment utilized includes IV pumps, CRRT machines, ventilators, and hemodymanic monitoring devices. Interdisciplinary support in the unit includes physical therapy, respiratory services, and pharmacy. Candidates should be flexible to float within the service line as needed.
