Clinical Pharmacist

Job Summary and Qualifications Performs the clinical functions for the Department of Pharmacy. Will provide structure, guidance, and accountability from a clinical standpoint to customers (patients, physicians, employees, visitors, and investors) who receive pharmacy services in a professional and efficient manner. What you will do in this role Develops and coordinates the clinical functions of pharmacy practice and drug usage, taking a proactive approach to pharmaceutical services while paying attention to key industry trends, population demographics, and local market dynamics. Assesses the needs of the department from a clinical skills standpoint and designs, develops, and implements programs to improve the clinical skills of departmental staff. Evaluates the drug usage process within the facility to identify opportunities for quality and financial improvement, and designs and implements changes to address identified opportunities. Initiates and evaluates new programs to be implemented by the department of pharmacy as they pertain to the clinical operation of the department. Participates in all meetings of the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee, Medication Safety Committee, Infection Control Committee, and any other committee deemed appropriate by Administration or the Medical Staff as they relate to pharmaceutical services, and coordinates all activities of the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee with the chairperson of the committee and the director of pharmacy. Assists in the integration of clinical services with the distributive functions of the department. Performs distributive functions of the department with staff pharmacists and technicians when deemed necessary to maintain effective operations.
