Registered Nurse Surgery

Registered Nurse – Surgery is requested for a full‑service hospital located in El Paso, TX. The role focuses on delivering high‑quality peri‑operative nursing care in the operating room and through patient postoperative care. Position Details Self/preferential scheduling posted four weeks in advance for predictable schedule. Culture of mutual respect and collaboration among all surgical staff. Continuous investment in equipment for patient safety and workflow efficiency. Rounding with unit leaders, including charge nurses. On‑call duties during selected non‑business hours. Responsibilities Evaluate patients prior to surgery. Provide patient and family education regarding the procedure and peri‑operative process. Assume responsibility for patient preparation, including IV therapy, pre‑operative medications, and surgical site verification. Participate in surgical site verification, including briefing, time‑out, debriefing, and universal protocols. Recognize and respond to patient emergencies. Deliver high‑quality, patient‑centered care while managing evidence‑based practices and continuous improvement initiatives. Be an integral member of a dynamic interdisciplinary team, including providers, surgeons and surgical technologists. Consistently apply the nursing process, critical thinking, scientific judgment, technical skills and leadership to deliver safe nursing care independently. Assess patient condition, monitor throughout the shift, and document changes thoroughly. Educate patients and families/caregivers about the patient’s medical condition, treatment and follow‑up measures. Qualifications Registered Nurse with a current RN license. Associate degree in nursing (RN). 1 year of experience required. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within 30 days of employment start date. Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification within 30 days of employment start date. PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification within 6 months of employment start date. No travel required.
