Energy Project Engineer for AI Evaluation

Project Engineers with hands-on experience in energy project estimation, construction planning, and solar design evaluate AI-generated content and create expert training data that improves AI understanding of project development workflows and cost estimation. This is not a traditional job. It is an ongoing, project-based, hourly contract engagement you can take on alongside other work. No prior AI experience is required.

• Use your practical experience in energy project estimation, pre-construction planning, and solar design to assess AI outputs for technical accuracy and relevance.
• Create expert-level training data and examples based on real-world project workflows and cost estimation practices.
• Provide clear, actionable feedback on construction planning, budgeting, and design assumptions to help refine AI responses.
• Work with the tools you use in daily practice to validate AI-produced documents, estimates, and plans.
• Complete tasks independently and communicate findings to an AI research team on an asynchronous basis.

• At least 2 years of professional experience in energy project estimation, pre-construction, or solar design.
• Relevant titles include Estimator, Project Engineer, Pre-construction Manager, Solar Design Engineer, or equivalent roles in the energy industry.
• Hands-on experience with one or more of the following tools: Bluebeam Revu, RSMeans, Aurora Solar.
• Strong written communication, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and asynchronously with research teams.

• Engagement type: part-time, hourly contract work, fully remote.
• Schedule: flexible, asynchronous hours with no minimum hour requirement; most contributors work approximately 5, 20 hours per week when participating in an active project.
• This is an ongoing, project-based role. Placement on specific projects depends on current project needs, with opportunities to be considered for future projects as they become available.

• Up to $85/hr (depending on the project)
