Renewable Energy Engineer for AI Model Evaluation

Renewable Energy Engineers apply hands-on expertise in renewable energy modeling, microgrid design, and asset performance analysis to evaluate AI-generated content and produce expert training data. You will use practical knowledge of engineering workflows and commonly used tools to judge accuracy, relevance, and realism of AI responses, helping AI systems better reflect real-world renewable energy practice. This is a project-based, hourly contract role you can perform alongside other work.

• Review and evaluate AI-generated responses related to renewable energy systems, microgrids, and asset performance for technical accuracy and practical relevance.
• Create expert-level training data and annotations based on your hands-on experience and standard engineering workflows.
• Provide clear, detailed feedback that explains errors, gaps, or nuances in AI outputs so models can be improved.
• Apply domain knowledge from renewable energy modeling, microgrid design, and asset performance analysis when assessing scenarios and results.
• Work independently and communicate findings to AI research teams in written form.

• Minimum 2 years of professional experience in renewable energy engineering, microgrid design, or asset performance.
• Relevant job titles include, but are not limited to, Microgrid Engineer, Renewable Energy Engineer, Solar Engineer, Renewable Energy Modeler, Digital Twin Engineer, or Asset Performance Manager, or equivalent roles in the energy industry.
• Hands-on experience with one or more of the following tools: HOMER Pro, SAM, GE Digital Twin.
• Strong written communication skills, high attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in an asynchronous environment.
• No prior AI or machine learning experience is required; domain expertise is the primary qualification.

• Location: Fully remote.
• Engagement type: Part-time, hourly contract work as an independent contractor.
• Schedule: Flexible, asynchronous schedule with no minimum hour requirement. When active on a project, most contributors work approximately 5 to 20 hours per week.
• Ongoing, project-based assignments. Placement on specific projects depends on current needs, with consideration for future projects as they become available.

Up to $80/hr (depending on the project)

• This role is remote and structured for part-time, contract participation. Candidates must be able to work as independent contractors under the stated hourly arrangement.
