Our staff work in the high-schools that our students attend, engaging with every student from 9th to 12th grade. POSITION SUMMARY

The College and Career Coordinator (CCC) serves as an experienced direct service provider and leadership proxy in our partner schools. In southwest Pennsylvania, the CCC works at one of 12 Plus’ three newly-launching partner high schools in Allegheny or Beaver County. Because this is the region’s first year of operation, CCCs in southwest PA play an outsized role in making the model real on the ground — adapting workshops and advising practices to a new school community alongside the Site Director, and helping shape what the 12 Plus experience looks like in the region.

CCCs are expected to be well-versed in postsecondary options for a variety of student populations — including college, trade programs, industry certifications, and other workforce development pathways — as well as the processes involved in helping a student actualize their path (applications, FAFSAs, enrollment, etc.). A successful CCC will effectively manage and advise their cohort of students and be trusted to operate the PLUS Center in the absence of a Site Director.

The ideal candidate is:

• A direct service expert who has a minimum 2 years of experience in College & Career Readiness advising or comparable experience advising or supporting high school students
• A student-centered advisor with breadth across postsecondary options, including trade programs, industry certifications, and workforce development opportunities
• A flexible operator who is comfortable with the ambiguity of working in a launch year, where materials and routines are still being built
• A team player who supports the Site Director and is trusted to step in when needed

**Please note: The specific partner high schools will be shared during the interview process, but all 3 are located within a 1 hour drive of downtown Pittsburgh.***

RESPONSIBILITIES & RESULTS

Student Advisor (Direct Service) (50%)

• Work with a cohort of seniors on postsecondary advising, driving completion of advising steps for every student in cohort, with high-level supervision from their Site Director.
• Support the college and career aspirations and attainment of students, being mindful of the senior class as a whole, alongside the Site Director
• Collaborate with the Site Director to drive applications and enrollments to non-college pathways from all seniors — including trade programs, industry certifications, and workforce development pathways. As one of the first cohorts in southwest PA, help establish what “non-college pathway” looks like for students in this region.
• Support the socio-emotional needs of students
• Support the academic needs of students
• Collaborate with the Site Director to establish and meet senior metrics for the launch year, in line with goals set by the Impact Director. Because this is a launch year, baselines will be set rather than benchmarked against prior site data:

Program Coordinator (Operational Management) (35%)

• Build familiarity with school-relevant 12 Plus programming — examples include RAISE (Freshman transition), FLIGHT (college and career readiness), and PLUS Ambassadors (leadership development)
• Assist the Site Director in communicating and coordinating with teachers and counselors to integrate programming into the school schedule
• Lead facilitation of select workshops, including differentiating materials to best fit the needs of the individual school or student population and leading the design of new materials when needed
• Work with the Site Director and school staff (as needed/available) to organize school-wide events, such as College Week, Career Fair, and FAFSA Night
• Assist the Site Director in organizing, scheduling, and implementing info sessions and field trips to facilitate college and career exposure and exploration in southwest PA, including building local visit relationships with regional employers, workforce development partners, trade programs, and postsecondary institutions — in coordination with school and institution staff and the site programming calendar
• Learn to review, report, and document program material, progress, and metrics with the Site and Impact Directors, offering feedback and notes to the Impact Director alongside or in addition to those provided by the Site Director

Site Director Proxy (Operational Leadership) (15%)

• Assist in managing the PLUS Center on a daily basis, and in the absence of a Site Director, manage the PLUS Center (student presence, center norms, positive and productive space)
• Work with school counselors to coordinate tasks such as transcript uploads, Common App recommendations, Naviance, and similar systems
• Assist in meeting and managing school expectations — staff meetings, deadlines, accountability, and updates

CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS

To be eligible for consideration, applicants should have:

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree required
• Direct-service experience working with high school students in College & Career Readiness (CCR) advising, teaching, or coaching capacity
• Familiarity with postsecondary application processes (college, trade programs, FAFSA, financial aid) — comfortable advising students across the full range of postsecondary pathways. Workforce Development experience is preferred.

Skills and Knowledge

• Strong written and verbal communication, including with students, families, and school staff
• Comfort with data tracking and reporting, and the ability to use data to identify advising gaps in real time
• Ability to differentiate workshop materials based on student needs and lead the design of new materials when needed

• Comfort with ambiguity and capacity to operate in a launch environment where materials, expectations, and routines are still being defined

Additional Requirements

• Personal transportation and ability to travel within the region as needed
• Availability to travel to organizational headquarters for required training and reporting
