Accounting Manager

The Newcastle Search Group has been retained by an established, industry-leading organization located in North Side of Chicago to support the hiring of an Accounting Manager . This position follows a hybrid work schedule , with an expectation of on‑site presence several days per week. Candidates must be local to the Chicago area or willing to commute. Job Responsibilities Oversee and manage the day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close. Ensure timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Review and approve account reconciliations and journal entries to ensure accuracy and compliance. Manage and mentor accounting staff; supervisory experience is a plus, as this role may include direct reports. Establish, document, and improve accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls. Partner cross-functionally with finance, operations, and leadership to support business initiatives. Assist with external audits, including preparation of supporting schedules and audit documentation. Ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and company policies. Support budgeting and forecasting activities as needed. Job Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required. Minimum of 5 + years of progressive accounting experience . Prior supervisory or people management experience strongly preferred. Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting, financial reporting, and month-end close processes. Experience working with enterprise resource planning systems and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across all levels of the organization. Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
