Position: Director of Nursing (DON) – Skilled Nursing Facility

Location: Cupertino, CA
Job Type: Full-Time
Position: Director of Nursing (DON)
Salary: $125,000–$185,000/year

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development, organization, and operation of nursing and supportive services for the Health Care Center and residential apartments.
• Coordinate nursing services for Health Center and residential residents.
• Coordinate outside healthcare services, including home health, private duty, hospice, rehabilitation, psychological services, and other resources needed to meet resident needs.
• Communicate with outside consultants and healthcare providers to assess resident needs and develop appropriate care recommendations.
• Develop and oversee comprehensive nursing staffing plans based on resident needs and regulatory requirements.
• Ensure appropriate levels of licensed nurses and certified nursing assistants are scheduled to provide adequate 24-hour coverage.
• Develop and maintain an effective restorative care program in collaboration with therapy providers.
• Recruit, train, supervise, evaluate, and discipline nursing personnel as appropriate.
• Develop and participate in new employee orientation programs for nursing staff, including agency and private-duty personnel.
• Oversee completion of written orientations and annual performance evaluations for nursing staff.
• Establish and maintain daily nursing rounds and staff assignments.
• Ensure nursing operations meet federal and California regulatory requirements and facility standards of care.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to improve resident outcomes, quality of care, and resident satisfaction.
• Maintain a positive and supportive work environment focused on employee engagement and resident-centered care.
• Support survey readiness, quality assurance initiatives, and regulatory compliance.
• Manage nursing operations, staffing, budgets, and patient/resident care services effectively.

Qualifications

Required

• Current California RN license in good standing
• Minimum 2 years of Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) experience
• Minimum 2 years of leadership or supervisory experience in an SNF
• Strong leadership and team-building abilities
• Proven staff development and management skills
• Excellent clinical assessment and problem-solving abilities
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Experience with regulatory compliance and survey readiness
• Experience with quality assurance and performance improvement
• Ability to effectively manage nursing operations, staffing, budgets, and resident care services

Preferred

• BSN preferred
• Advanced nursing or healthcare-related degree is a plus
• Experience leading nursing teams in long-term care or skilled nursing environments
