They coach, train, develop, and support their teams while driving engagement and accountability. In addition, they play a critical role in continuous improvement efforts, operational excellence, and achieving key customer performance metrics.Essential functions include supervising, coordinating, and overseeing day to day logistics operations; planning and reviewing logistics processes; establishing work schedules and coordinating activities of the workers; being accountable for site Key Performance Indication (KPI); working in collaboration with the customer in all aspects of operations; meeting regularly with team members to monitor progress towards meeting objectives, track performance, coach and counsel as well as recognizing team and individual successes; cultivating team spirit with a Diversity and Inclusion initiative and promoting cooperation by seeking opportunities to improve internal processes; carrying out performance evaluations of the team members and recommending performance awards and/or merit increases when appropriate; addressing performance problems through corrective action and disciplinary process; responsible for implementation of health & safety and security initiatives, practices and behaviors and adherence to company rules and policies; and providing appropriate orientation for employees and Lead Hands and giving them the information, technology and any material necessary to perform their jobs.Additional responsibilities include performing other duties as assigned.Skills and abilities include instilling commitment to organizational goals, strong planning skills, results oriented, effective leadership skills, motivating skills, effective interpersonal skills, strong verbal and written communication skills, a high degree of initiative, ability to create and maintain professional relationships within all levels of the organization, ability to work independently and as a member of a team, flexibility to operate and self-driven to excel in a fast-paced environment, capable of multi-tasking, highly organized, with excellent time management skills, detail oriented with excellent follow-up practices.Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, 0 to 1 year in direct supervisory/leadership experience, and 1 year or more in experience in transportation, warehouse or distribution environment.Travel is not required for this position.Job Category: LogisticsAt Ryder, you're trusted to make an impact—while enjoying room to grow and having a voice that's heard.
