Quality Control Technician

Job Overview Under the general direction of the Lead Quality Control Technician, the candidate will conduct evaluations of contractor services and maintenance service delivery in managed facilities for the Energy, Transportation & Asset Management (ETAM) Department on an assigned shift. They may be required to perform duties in the Integrated Airport Operations Center (IOC) / Airport Operations Center (AOC) control room when assigned. Daily tasks will vary based on the needs at the time. Principal Duties and Responsibilities Perform quality checks on facility mechanical, plumbing & electrical systems. Handle administrative tasks such as ordering supplies, maintaining records, and scheduling maintenance. Conduct contract compliance assessments of ETAM board managed facilities. Assist in developing service contracts by proposing contract terms, conditions, specifications, and modifications. Identify and correct potential safety hazards to avoid injuries. Review invoices and other contractor documents to ensure accuracy and completion of work. Apply preventative measures to buildings to reduce risk of future problems. Respond to service requests to verify nature and extent of issues, recommend solutions, and verify quality of work. Consult with the Quality Assurance Administrator to resolve disputes with contractors. Enter work order related information into the Airport Total Asset Management System. Respond to customer complaints of system failure or malfunction; investigate and take corrective action or notify responsible system service coordinators. Perform trend analyses and monitor performance metrics. Conduct regular inspections of facilities and surrounding areas to identify maintenance, appearance, and cleanliness issues inconsistent with standards. Assess work in progress to ensure compliance with contract, safety, and appearance standards; follow up with responsible parties to resolve open issues. Assist the Environmental Affairs Department with field observations of airport activities related to potential environmental issues. Minimum Requirements Completion of high school curriculum or equivalent. Three (3) years of formal training and/or experience in one of the following technical areas: Industrial plant operations and/or maintenance; Industrial or commercial HVAC and related mechanical systems; Industrial or commercial facility electronic and/or electrical systems. Equivalent combinations of education and/or experience may substitute for the above. Valid Class C driver’s license. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Ability to interpret and monitor contractual service agreements regarding assigned systems and/or facilities. Proficiency in utilizing standard Microsoft Office suite software. Strong written communication skills for preparing clear, concise reports. Effective interpersonal skills for establishing and maintaining harmonious working relationships internally and externally. Ability to read and understand technical diagrams and blueprints. Strong verbal communication skills in written and spoken business English. Accuracy in preparing and maintaining reports. Professional presentation of a positive image of the Airport Board. Physical capability to perform all aspects of the position and to pass the specified physical examination. Desirable Former quality maintenance control experience in an industrial and/or commercial setting. Experience with Microsoft Project software. Knowledge of airport terminal systems, including baggage carousel, conveyance, general electrical, facility, jet bridge, general building maintenance, cleaning, landscaping, and roadway systems. Familiarity with public governmental procedures for preparation, bid solicitation, and awarding of service and maintenance contracts. Position requires the ability to obtain and maintain an Air Operations Area (AOA) badge.
