Job Title: General Production Worker Job Description

The General Production Worker operates automated conveyor lines and testing equipment to build and assemble high-quality pumps. This role follows detailed work instructions, supports continuous production flow, and helps maintain quality standards in a modern manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Follow written and verbal work instructions to operate all components of automated conveyor lines and testing equipment to assemble pumps.

• Learn and apply proper gauging techniques to measure and verify products as required.

• Move materials and parts within the cell work area to support continuous production and replenish stock as needed.

• Maintain accurate production, quality, and equipment documentation according to established procedures.

• Review and understand quality alerts, and promptly report quality or process issues to the team lead.

• Repair defective or rejected production parts on a daily basis to meet quality and delivery expectations.

• Analyze defects, identify potential root causes, and assist in corrective action programs to improve processes and product quality.

• Operate a variety of production equipment and tools, including machines using hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical systems, welding, hand tools, and assembly tools.

• Follow all safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment while working around machinery and production equipment.

• Support team members within the work cell by assisting with material handling, equipment operation, and problem-solving as needed.

Essential Skills

• At least 2 years of recent experience in a manufacturing environment in a production worker, machine operator, or assembler role.

• Demonstrated consistent work history with strong tenure in previous production or assembly positions.

• Hands-on assembly experience in a manufacturing setting.

• Ability to safely lift and move up to 40 lbs, including lifting pumps and positioning them at the station for stacking and shipping.

• Experience working in production, general labor, machine operation, or inspection roles.

• Ability to work with and around various machines, including hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, welding, and hand tool-based equipment.

• Willingness and ability to work up to 7 days per week according to production needs.

• Attention to detail and ability to follow standardized work instructions and quality procedures.

• Capability to understand and respond to quality alerts and communicate issues clearly to team leads.

• Basic documentation skills to record production, quality, and equipment information accurately.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Gauge experience for measuring and verifying product dimensions and quality.

• Prior experience in automotive or high-volume manufacturing environments.

• Familiarity with repair and rework of defective parts.

• Experience participating in or supporting corrective action and continuous improvement initiatives.

• Comfort working with multiple types of industrial equipment and tools in a production setting.

Work Environment

The role is based in a newly renovated manufacturing plant in Warren that produces pump, valvetrain, transmission, and electric drive components and systems for major automotive manufacturers. The facility uses a range of industrial equipment, including hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, welding, and hand tool-based machinery, as well as automated conveyor lines and testing equipment. The work schedule follows structured shifts, with 8-hour shifts available on 1st shift (7:00 AM – 3:30 PM), 2nd shift (3:00 PM – 11:30 PM), and 3rd shift (11:00 PM – 7:30 AM), and 10-hour shifts on 1st shift (5:00 AM – 3:30 PM) and 2nd shift (3:00 PM – 1:30 AM). The environment emphasizes safety, with steel-toe footwear, safety glasses, ear plugs, and gloves required and provided or supported through an allowance. Employees work in a fast-paced, production-driven setting that supports major automotive programs and leverages modernized facilities and equipment.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Warren, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $17.50/hr.
