Job Title: Mechanical Assembler
Job Description
The Mechanical Assembler will work in sub-assembly and general assembly to build large window units using hand and power tools, metal brackets, fasteners, and sealing materials. This role requires strong mechanical aptitude, precise use of measuring tools, and careful attention to quality as you assemble, seal, and inspect large glass and sheet metal components. You will contribute to a busy manufacturing operation by meeting daily production goals, supporting multiple areas of the line, and maintaining a positive, flexible approach to changing tasks and priorities.
Responsibilities
Why Work Here?
You will join a supportive, family-oriented environment where leadership at every level actively gives back to employees and values their contributions. The organization offers weekly pay and a comprehensive benefits package once you transition from contract to permanent, including a 401(k) with up to 5% match, employer-paid short- and long-term disability coverage that can reimburse a significant portion of wages, and life insurance starting at an amount equivalent to annual pay plus an additional benefit. You will enjoy generous paid time off with flex time, starting at approximately 15 days and increasing to a minimum of three weeks at five years of service. A performance-based bonus plan tied to return on sales provides the opportunity to earn up to 20% at year-end when targets are met. Multiple medical, dental, and vision plan options allow you to choose coverage that fits your needs and budget, with competitive weekly premiums. Additional perks include a prescription safety glasses program and an allowance toward a new pair of steel-toe boots each year. You will work in a culture that emphasizes teamwork, flexibility, professional growth, and recognition for hard work, especially as you support high-profile, high-volume projects.
Work Environment
The role is based in a busy, non-climate-controlled manufacturing facility with loud machines and many assemblers working simultaneously. You will work with very large pieces of glass, sheet metal, and steel frames, assembling large units that are typically waist high and can extend to around 30 feet in length. The environment involves large-piece assembly and requires careful handling of heavy and bulky materials. Shift hours typically run from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. as a minimum, with the expectation of mandatory overtime when production lines or departments fall behind, including potential Saturday work and weekday overtime. Much of the product and materials are stored both inside and outside the facility, so you may work outdoors or move between indoor and outdoor areas for material handling and unit testing in designated testing booths. The facility emphasizes a team-based culture where employees support one another across departments and may move between sub-assembly, general assembly, insulation, and other areas based on production needs. Dress and personal protective equipment include safety glasses, with access to prescription safety glasses once permanent, and steel-toe boots supported by a footwear program. In some areas, such as insulation, you may wear Tyvek suits to keep dust off clothing, even though the insulation consists of large foam pads and is not an irritant. Overall, the work environment is fast-paced, physically active, and highly collaborative, with a focus on safety, precision, and meeting production goals.
