A distinguished luxury hotel is seeking a talented, passionate, and detail-oriented Banquet Sous Chef to join its culinary leadership team. This individual will play a key role in executing exceptional banquet, catering, and event dining experiences while maintaining the highest standards of culinary excellence, presentation, and service.

The Banquet Sous Chef will work closely with the Executive Chef and Banquet Chef leadership team to oversee daily banquet kitchen operations, supervise culinary staff, and ensure the successful execution of weddings, corporate functions, VIP events, and other high-profile gatherings. The ideal candidate brings a strong background in luxury hotels, upscale resorts, or high-end event venues, along with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume culinary environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the Executive Chef and Banquet Chef with the daily management and execution of all banquet culinary operations.
• Oversee food preparation, production, and presentation for weddings, corporate meetings, social gatherings, VIP functions, and large-scale catered events.
• Ensure all banquet menus are executed to the highest standards of quality, consistency, flavor, and presentation.
• Supervise, train, mentor, and develop banquet cooks, culinary team members, and hourly kitchen staff.
• Coordinate banquet production schedules, staffing levels, and kitchen assignments to ensure seamless event execution.
• Collaborate with the Banquet, Catering, and Events teams to review Banquet Event Orders (BEOs), guest counts, special requests, dietary restrictions, and event timelines.
• Maintain exceptional standards of food safety, sanitation, cleanliness, organization, and kitchen equipment maintenance.
• Assist with menu development, seasonal offerings, menu tastings, and customized culinary experiences for high-profile clientele.
• Monitor food quality, portion control, product utilization, and waste management to maintain established food cost objectives.
• Assist with inventory management, purchasing, receiving, and proper storage of food products.
• Ensure the kitchen is properly prepared and organized for multiple events and simultaneous banquet functions.
• Maintain a visible leadership presence during events, providing hands-on support and resolving culinary challenges as they arise.
• Foster a positive, professional, and collaborative kitchen culture focused on teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Ensure compliance with hotel standards, company policies, and all applicable health and food safety regulations.

Qualifications & Experience

• 3+ years of progressive culinary experience, preferably within a luxury hotel, upscale resort, private club, or high-end banquet operation.
• Previous experience as a Banquet Sous Chef, Sous Chef, Banquet Chef, or a similar culinary leadership role preferred.
• Strong understanding of high-volume banquet production, plated dinners, buffets, receptions, and catered events.
• Demonstrated ability to execute sophisticated menus while maintaining consistency, quality, and attention to detail.
• Experience supervising, training, and developing culinary team members in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills.
• Ability to read and execute Banquet Event Orders and manage multiple events simultaneously.
• Working knowledge of food cost controls, inventory management, labor productivity, and food safety standards.
• Culinary degree or formal culinary training preferred; equivalent professional experience will be considered.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on banquet and event demands.
