Line Cook/Prep Cook

Devon Oaks Assisted Living in Westlake, an Eliza Jennings community and a nationally recognized leader in person-centered care, is searching for a part -time Cook.

Part-time position with weekend availability and holidays on a rotating basis.

Specific duties of the position include, but are not limited to:

• Provide input to menu planning and distribution; review menus and work order to identify type and quantity of food to be prepared prior to preparation of daily meals and special events.
• Prepare and cook a variety of fresh and nutritional recipes that meet residents’ dietary restrictions and food preferences.
• Operate a variety of kitchen utensils and equipment (blenders, mixers, grinders, slicers and tenderizers).
• Bake, roast, broil and steam foods.
• Wash, peel, cut and shred vegetables and fruits.
• Assure food quality; test and observe food.
• Prepare and serve meals that are palatable and appetizing in appearance.
• Prepare special order meals as requested or prescribed.
• Prepare, set, and deliver meal trays.
• Assure dietary procedures and policies are up to date and followed.
• Seek feedback from residents and family members to assure satisfaction; make adjustments.
• Act for supervisor’s absence; assist in training of dietary aides.
• Perform various kitchen duties including set-up and cleaning, and proper labeling and dating to assure a safe and sanitary food preparation environment; remove refuse.
• Prepare food for special and catered events.
• Clean, sanitize, and restock storage area.
• Assist in laundry and linen washing and folding.
• Prepare and submit required documentation and forms.
• Adhere to all safety regulations and infection control practices.
• Provide the people we serve with clear opportunities to direct their own lives and decide how they will spend their day.

One year of previous cooking experience is preferred.

Candidates must work well with others and enjoy interacting with seniors!
