Product Owner

The client is seeking a Product Owner to help lead a new Scrum team for a manned spaceflight program in Centennial, CO.

Key Duties:

• Serve on one or more scrum teams as the Product Owner and Subject Matter Expert.
• Provide vision and direction to the Agile development team and stakeholders throughout the project.
• Create and/or gather requirements and ensure that the team always has an adequate amount of well-defined work items.
• Prioritize product feature backlog based on mission priorities.
• Define product vision, roadmap, and product improvement opportunities.
• Assess value, develop cases, and prioritize stories, epics, and features to ensure work focuses on those with maximum value.
• Provide backlog management, drive iteration planning, and provide elaboration of the user stories.
• Work closely with Product Management to create and maintain a product backlog according to mission value.
• Lead the planning of product release plans and set expectations for delivery of new functionalities.
• Provide an active role in mitigating requirements-related impediments impacting successful team completion of Release/Sprint Goals.
• Research and analyze the market, the users, and the roadmap for the product.
• Interface with external and internal stakeholders to ensure schedule alignment and problem resolution.
• Keep abreast with Agile/Scrum best practices and new trends.
• Work with the scrum master to identify opportunities for system and process improvements.

Required Skills, Experience, and Education:

• Employees are required to follow federal, state, and local laws regarding COVID-19 practices, as well as customer requirements.
• 2 or more years of experience as a Product Owner.
• In-depth knowledge of Agile process and principles.
• Outstanding communication, presentation, and leadership skills.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Sharp analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Creative thinker with a vision.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in a technical discipline, or 6 or more years of related experience in lieu of education.

Desired Skills, Experience, and Education:

• Experience with formal software requirements.
• Experience working with NASA systems, particularly manned spaceflight.
• Experience working in the aerospace industry.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to write requirements.
• Strength in working in a team environment.
