Medical Director

Position Summary West Virginia University School of Medicine and the Department of Medicine seek a Medical Director, Transplant Nephrology (ranks available: Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor). Successful candidates will practice in Morgantown, WV. Depending on operational needs, additional services may be required at other worksites in West Virginia and Pennsylvania, including travel as needed. Responsibilities Provide medical leadership to the renal transplant program, working with the Surgical Director to ensure ongoing clinical operations of the kidney transplant program in accordance with UNOS bylaws and CMS regulations. Guide evaluation and planning of kidney and heart/kidney transplant patients through all phases of transplantation. Collaborate with the leadership team on Patient Selection Committee, QAPI, strategic planning, and research initiatives. Support the Nephrology section's clinical practice needs on a regular basis, including inpatient and outpatient nephrology. Teach medical students, residents, and fellows; mentor and educate transplant staff in the care of kidney patients. Participate in growth activities of the program, including outreach and research initiatives. Qualifications MD, DO, or foreign equivalent & eligible for a state medical license. Completed fellowship in nephrology and fellowship in transplant nephrology. Board certified in internal medicine and certified or eligible in nephrology. Minimum of one year of experience in transplant nephrology; all qualifications must be met by the time of appointment. Meet UNOS and OPTN requirements.
