Location North Carolina - South Carolina - Tennessee Salary $94,000 - $96,500 per year Position Summary Shimadzu Scientific Instruments is seeking a Physical Measurements Support Engineer to join our team and serve as a key technical resource supporting our Physical Measurements Product line. In this role, you will deliver both pre‑and post‑sales support, including hands‑on instrument demonstrations, customer installations, application training, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance for assigned product lines. You’ll partner closely with regional sales and service teams to ensure customer success through a collaborative, solutions‑focused approach. Job Functions Conduct technical demonstrations, installations, and customer trainings on hardware/software Provide first‑line customer support and issue resolution Maintain and manage regional demonstration inventory Collaborate with sales and service teams in a team‑selling model Support product line and regional leadership on various technical initiatives Regular travel within the region, including overnight stays and air travel Education and Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in a physical science, materials science, chemistry, mechanical engineering, or related field At least 2 years of experience in field support of physical measurement instrumentation (e.g., UTM, hardness testers, thermal analyzers, particle size analyzers, X‑ray, NDI CT scanner, or similar products) Experience in training, application support, and physical measurement instrumentation such as testing machines or similar products Excellent communication and customer relations skills Ability to travel within the assigned territory, including overnight stays as needed, and outside the local region for coverage and operational support Ability to troubleshoot complex instrumentation issues and provide effective solutions Compensation and Benefits This full‑time, exempt position comes with a comprehensive benefits package including a 401(k) match, profit‑sharing, health benefits, flexible spending accounts, and a generous short‑term disability program. In your first year, you will receive 10 paid vacation days, 8 paid personal days, 8 paid scheduled holidays, and 3 paid floating holidays. The starting salary range is $93,000 to $95,000 annually, paid semi‑monthly. Additional variable compensation includes an incentive plan, and a discretionary year‑end bonus may also be awarded based on overall company performance. The position includes a company car with a fuel card (with a $55 per pay deduction for personal use) and a company‑paid cell phone that remains company property. Additional compensation, where applicable, includes an incentive and/or commission plan for Service, Technical Support, Marketing & Sales Roles and, for employees residing in Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey, and California, a cost‑of‑living adjustment (COLA).
