Accountant

We are seeking an Accountant with strong cash operations and reconciliation experience to support accounting functions. This position will be responsible for analyzing cash activity, performing complex reconciliations, preparing journal entries, supporting month-end close, and ensuring the accuracy of financial transactions and account balances. The ideal candidate will have experience working with high-volume financial transactions, cash activity, account reconciliations, payment processing, and general ledger accounting. This role requires a highly analytical professional who can investigate discrepancies, identify root causes, and ensure transactions are accurately recorded and reconciled. Key Responsibilities Monitor and analyze daily cash activity and financial transactions to ensure accurate accounting and reporting. Perform complex reconciliations of cash, bank, operational, and general ledger accounts. Research and resolve cash discrepancies, unmatched transactions, variances, and out-of-balance conditions. Analyze transaction activity to identify trends, errors, and potential accounting issues. Prepare and post journal entries and supporting documentation. Support daily, monthly, and year-end accounting and close activities. Reconcile transaction activity between operational systems, bank records, and the general ledger. Assist with cash processing, payment activity, and settlement-related accounting. Maintain accurate accounting records and ensure transactions are properly documented. Prepare financial reports, account analyses, and management reporting. Support internal and external audits by providing reconciliations and supporting documentation. Maintain and follow appropriate financial controls and accounting procedures. Identify opportunities to improve reconciliation, transaction processing, and accounting workflows. Partner with Operations, Treasury, Finance, and other internal teams to research and resolve accounting issues. Serve as a technical resource and provide guidance to other accounting team members. Participate in accounting, systems, and cross-functional process improvement initiatives. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required. 2+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within banking, financial services, or another transaction-intensive environment. Strong experience with cash operations, cash activity, account reconciliations, and transaction processing. Experience reconciling operational systems to the general ledger. Strong understanding of accounting principles and journal entries. Demonstrated ability to research and resolve complex financial discrepancies. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience with ERP/accounting systems. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
