Job Summary:

Bechtel Global Logistics (BGL) is seeking a Project Chartering Specialist that will be based in Houston, TX and supporting projects in the Americas and other regions. The position will be responsible for performing marine chartering and logistics responsibilities of moderate complexity in support of project requirements to ensure the safe, timely, and economical delivery of goods to meet project requirements. Ensure assigned logistics chartering operations, including LSP performance, are in compliance with the contract and within schedules and budgets.  Develop reports using business intelligence (BI) /analytics tools to track and monitor various KPIs in support of project and functional initiatives.  Reports to the BGL Marine Chartering Manager.

Major Responsibilities:

• Performs chartering responsibilities for domestic, international multi-leg and complex specialized marine shipments in support of project requirements to ensure the safe, timely, and economical delivery of goods to meet project requirement 
• Assists with the sourcing and procurement of chartering services which includes but not limited to vetting and qualification of logistics service providers, preparation of bid tabs, commitment authorizations, and contract documents within the scope of Bechtel policies and procedures 
• Assists in identifying chartering transport cost and service alternatives to support materials/equipment purchase decisions and use of Logistics service providers 
• Reviews Logistics service provider method statement and bill of lading and notate any discrepancies and propose actions to minimize any deviation with booking note and Bechtel policies, and procedures   
• Assists in developing and implementing chartering programs that improve operations efficiency, safety, quality, and cost
• Coordinates with marine warranty surveyor for the inspection at loading and unloading of critical shipments in support of project requirements
• Maintains communication and relationship with carriers, warranty surveyor and other third parties’ providers to ensure constant project planning and execution 
• Assists the Operation Manager and project logistics lead as requested
• Assists with filing and resolution of Logistics service provider claims
• Assists with preparation of logistics studies including site and Logistics service provider facility visits
• Coordinates vessel scheduling, monitor shipment progress, and manage exceptions to resolve issues that could impact delivery schedule
• Ensures timely entry of shipment tracking data into Chartering Database/log to provide visibility shipment status 

Education and Experience Requirements:

• Requires a bachelor’s degree in Logistics, International Maritime Business, or related technical training and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience. 

Required Knowledge and Skills:

• Preferred that the individual has vessel chartering and maritime operations or project Field experience.  Career-development position within field. 
• Knowledge of marine cargo chartering and maritime operations
• Knowledge of importing and exporting formalities and processes 
• Knowledge of domestic and international trade and delivery terms, Incoterms 
• Knowledge of business intelligence/analytics tools such as Artificial Intelligence, Smart Sheet, and Power BI is preferred 
• Developing professional expertise, applies company policies and procedures to resolve a variety of issues. 
• Knowledge of industry packing, marking, and shipping requirements.
• Knowledge of Transportation Management System tools, procedures, and trainings.
• Demonstrated proficiency in oral and written English communication skills.
