Director, Statistical Programming (Safety Statistical Programming)

Gilead Sciences seeks a Director of Statistical Programming to lead data analysis, governance, and business intelligence initiatives at its Foster City headquarters. The role combines technical expertise in data management with operational leadership, driving organizational maturity in data practices and supporting data-driven decision-making across functions.
Responsibilities
- Champion adoption of data collection, analysis, and visualization practices across the organization
- Develop and maintain knowledge management systems for data storage, retrieval, and analysis
- Establish data governance standards and ensure data accuracy, validation, and compliance
- Conduct operations research projects to optimize performance and minimize costs or risks
- Partner cross-functionally to develop performance indicators and support business planning cycles
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in technical or business field (statistics, computer science, engineering, finance) or Master's equivalent
- 12+ years progressive experience in technical roles, or 10+ years with advanced degree
- Proficiency with data analysis tools including R, Python, and Tableau
- Strong financial acumen and experience managing large multi-currency budgets
- Proven track record in people management and change leadership
- Experience in pharmaceutical or highly regulated sector preferred
- Advanced analytical skills and ability to communicate complex insights to diverse audiences
Compensation: $226,185–$292,710 base salary
