Job Class: Supervisor (0510), Middle School: Special Education Department Salary Range: $160,412 - $171,527 annually Calendar: Full Time / Full Year Essential Duties Supports the design and implementation and monitoring of Special Education Programming. In partnership with Special Education Instructional Teams, provides leadership and team support in the identification, evaluation, design, dissemination, implementation, and progress monitoring of special education services to students who meet eligibility criteria; Establishes and evaluates district goals, priorities, processes, and systems for the effective delivery of inclusive, culturally and linguistically responsive pedagogy, systems, and tools, including those that serve language/ethnic diverse students with disabilities in our schools and county programs; Develops, manages and implements various training, professional learning and leadership projects to stakeholders across SFUSD related to the delivery of the special education services; Plans and facilitates various relevant community committees and networks that support staff and students in inclusive education, differentiated teaching and learning experiences; Supervises and evaluates certificated staff as assigned; Collaborates with and provides communication strategies and recommendations to principals and case managers, families and community agencies concerning their special education programs, services and educational opportunities for children with disabilities; Provides collaborative consultation support to site administrators, instructional staff, and related service providers on federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and policies governing special education programs; monitors the ADR and/or compliance cases re: the effectiveness of the instructional program and makes recommendations ongoing to the appropriate SPED administrator for follow-through; Is responsive to requirements of the California Department of Education; Oversees appropriate Professional Development opportunities for Special Education School Staff; Serves as a liaison between the district, state, county, community members, non-public schools and agencies in matters relating to program responsibilities; Supports implementation of Alternative Dispute Resolution between school site IEP teams and families; Other duties assigned by the Head of Special Education. Minimum Qualifications Valid Administrative Services Credential 1+ years of school site or central office administrator experience, school site experience preferred Preferred Qualifications Possession of a valid Special Education credential Possession of a valid California Driver’s License Five (5) years of experience teaching special education in schools serving underserved students Experience coaching and designing/facilitating professional development opportunities Experience with educational issues as they relate to service provision for related services and specialized academic instruction Demonstrated ability to work in collaborative teams that include parents/families and professionals; Knowledge of SEIS, CALPADs, Synergy Strong written and verbal communication skills Experience using multimedia technologies for classroom and professional development applications Knowledge of San Francisco’s public schools/urban public schools and a passionate belief in SFUSD’s commitment to instructional leadership as a lever toward delivering on the SFUSD Graduate Profile Strong analytics and systems thinking necessary to interpret data to inform goals and strategy, as well as building infrastructure where none exists Ability to work effectively across multiple functions and roles within a complex organization A proven record of effectively planning, organizing and using resources to take action and achieve goals The ability to learn quickly and adapt as needed in a fast-paced environment Outstanding organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail A flexible, “can do” work ethic with a focus on identifying challenges and proactively working to find solutions while maintaining a bigger picture lens and focus on what can be delivered instead of what cannot be done Excellent data analysis skills and experience synthesizing data to drive action steps Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective working relationships with senior level district staff and colleagues Effective written and verbal communication and the ability to clearly communicate complex, bureaucratic processes to a variety of audiences Ability to work effectively in difficult situations that involve confidential and sensitive matters Strong computer skills including GSuite (Google Docs, Slides, Sheets, Forms) What We Offer SFUSD offers a competitive salary of $160,412 - $171,527 annually commensurate with experience in a similar position.
