Job Title: RN Telemetry I Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Rotating (Days, Evenings, Nights) Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Active RN License Certifications: AHA BLS certification and Telemetry Certification Must-Have: - Ability to read telemetry strips - Knowledge on cardiac drips - Nursing care for patients post-cardiac catheterization and pacemaker is preferred Description: This position is in a 37-bed medical telemetry unit. Patients may be admitted from various sources, including Emergency Departments and physician referrals. Common treatments include Cardizem, Nitroglycerin, Lasix, and Heparin drips. Patient diagnoses include Congestive Heart Failure, Atrial Fibrillation, Pulmonary Embolism, and Pneumonia. The unit also accommodates patients with alcohol use disorder and dementia alongside cardiac issues. There may be occasional surgical patients. Travelers are required to float to applicable units as needed. Rotating shifts may include day rotators between 7 AM - 7 PM, 11 AM - 11 PM, or 7 PM - 7 AM when necessary. The clinician to patient ratio for day and evening shifts is 1:4 (maximum of 5), and for night shifts, it is 1:5-6. Day shifts on weekdays include a Charge RN without patient assignments. The unit consists of semi-private, quadruple, triple, and private rooms, along with a negative pressure room. The electronic medical record system used is EPIC.
