Registered Nurse - Intensive Care Unit - Full Time 12 Hours Day Shift (Union)

Overview As an integral member of the patient care team, the Registered Nurse supports the Chief Nursing Officer in leading the patient care team to ensure the safety, recovery, and comfort of patients by implementing the nursing process (assessment, nursing diagnosis, development of the plan of care and education plan; implementation of interventions, evaluation of interventions, and revision of the plan as needed). The RN practices in compliance with regulatory requirements including CMS Conditions of Participation, Title 22, CDPH regulations, DNV‑GL/NIAHO standards, etc., and supports the department manager and director in quality improvement and growth of unit services. Leadership is provided in collaboration with co‑workers and other departments, and efficient services are managed with meaningful and valuable outcomes. Responsibilities Practice to the full extent of the RN’s legal scope of practice based on education, training, and competency. Make judgments and decisions about patient care, acting on assessments performed. Provide a healing environment, prevent harm, and educate patients about their condition and self‑care actions. Assist the charge nurse with shift planning and contribute to overall unit planning and improvement. Precept and validate competency of new hires and new procedures. Teach nursing students. Delegate tasks to other RNs, LVNs, and CNAs as indicated. Coordinate assigned team and communicate expectations (interventions, report back, etc.). Report and communicate improvement opportunities, unusual events, and chain‑of‑command information. Minimum Education and Experience Graduation from a Registered Nurse Program; BSN desired (if not upon hire, must be obtained within 5 years). 1 year of clinical experience in an acute care setting preferred; experience with orthopedic and stroke patient populations preferred. For Cardiac Cath Lab Nurses: 1 year nursing experience in ICU, stepdown, or ER preferred; 1 year+ IR, EP, or Cardiac Cath Lab experience preferred. For 6th Floor Med/Surg Employees: Two years’ experience with orthopedic and medical‑surgical nursing preferred; certification in Medical‑Surgical, Orthopedic, or other specialty preferred. Licensing and Certifications California Registered Nurse license required. Certification in clinical specialty or management desired. BLS required for all specialties; ACLS required for Surgery, PACU/SDS/GI Lab, Cath Lab, ICU/5S, 4th Telemetry, 6th Med Surg, and Float Pool. PALS required for PACU/SDS/GI Lab, ED, and ER. AB508 (within 30 days of hire) and NIHSS (within 30 days of hire) required for ED. NRP (within 6 months of hire) required for ED. ENPC (within 12 months of hire) required for ED. All certifications must be active effective date of hire or transfer unless otherwise indicated. Salary Hourly rate range: $47.58 to $76.68.
