Role: Veterinary Assistant

Status: Full-time

Salary: $17.50 – $19.00 per hour, based on qualifications and experience

Schedule: Four-day work week with one-hour lunch breaks; Rotating Saturday shifts

What Our Veterinary Assistants Do

• Triage patients and obtain thorough histories, vital signs, and patient assessments
• Assist veterinarians during examinations, treatments, surgeries, and procedures
• Prepare and administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed
• Perform venipuncture, catheter placement, fluid therapy, and sample collection
• Obtain high-quality diagnostic radiographs
• Perform in-house laboratory testing, including CBC/chemistry, urinalysis, cytology, and fecal testing
• Educate clients regarding medications, discharge instructions, preventive care, and treatment plans
• Maintain clean, organized treatment and exam areas while following infection control protocols
• Work collaboratively with teammates to provide exceptional patient care

What Our Veterinary Assistants Bring

• Confidence in patient handling and core veterinary assistant skills, or a strong desire to continue learning
• Experience with preventive care, vaccines, and client education
• Experience obtaining radiographs, performing venipuncture, sample collection, and in-house laboratory testing
• Knowledge of anesthesia induction, monitoring, and recovery
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced clinical environment
• Excellent communication and client service skills
• Positive attitude, reliability, and commitment to teamwork
• Passion for veterinary medicine and helping pets and the people who love them
