Computer Operator

Seeking a Computer Operator to perform clerical and maintenance tasks in support of a mainframe computer complex or other large, centralized IT system.

Under general supervision, operates computer and peripheral equipment.

Performs clerical and maintenance tasks in support of a mainframe computer complex or other large, centralized IT system.

Monitors BPE/TPE transactions, all environmental, security, electrical & UPS systems.

Checks the network systems to ensure statewide access.

Works with vendors for hw/sw.

Ensure all printed output is of high quality and defect free.

Weekend shift with the hours of 7pm - 7am, Saturday and Sunday. They would then need to get in an additional 16 hours anytime during the week. These additional 16hrs can be picked up on any shift. 1st, 2nd or 3rd.

Qualifications:

Vocational/Technical degree in a related field from an accredited college AND 2 years of related experience

Completion of either a two-year certificate/degree from a college, university, or technical school in an IT field or equivalent work experience in IT.

Experience as Computer Operator in a large Data Center.

Experience with a Network Operations Center (NOC).

Experience with Production Control.

Experience with Control-M.

Experience with TPE/BPE Manager.

Experience with security in a Data Center.

Experience with Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) in a Data Center.

Experience with electrical power in a Data Center including generators and Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS).

Experience with a raised floor in a Data Center.

Experience with fire detection and fire suppression systems in a Data Center.

Experience with Change Management policies, procedures, and software.

Experience with Incident/Problem Management policies, procedures, and software.

Experience with Asset Management policies, procedures, and software.

Experience with Networks, such as LAN/WAN, MPLS, TCP/IP, and SNA.

Experience with Microsoft Office.

Experience with Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL).

Experience with automated job schedulers.

Experience with hardware/software maintenance contracts.

Experience with Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery.

Experience with State and/or Federal government.

Experience with distributed servers running AIX, LINUX, and Windows.

In determining the bonus amount, Synectics will consider the cost of the test(s) for any certification relating to your current position, achieved during your employment with us. Only one Certification Bonus per calendar year may be awarded per employee. Only current, active employees will be eligible to receive this bonus. It will be awarded 90 days after the Synectics office has received documentation confirming the successful completion of the certification.
