The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides compassionate, hands-on care to residents in a skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility. The CNA works as part of the nursing team to ensure residents receive safe, respectful, and quality care while maintaining their dignity, comfort, and independence.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide direct care to residents according to their individualized care plan and facility policies.

• Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and oral care.

• Assist with eating and drinking, including meal setup and feeding when necessary.

• Transfer, reposition, and ambulate residents safely using appropriate equipment and techniques.

• Answer call bells promptly and respond appropriately to resident requests and needs.

• Take and record vital signs, weights, intake/output, and other measurements as directed.

• Observe residents for changes in physical, mental, or emotional condition and promptly report concerns to the nurse.

• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of resident care.

• Assist with admissions, discharges, transfers, and room changes as directed.

• Maintain clean, safe, and organized resident rooms and common areas.

• Follow infection-control procedures, including proper hand hygiene and use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

• Follow fall-prevention, safety, and emergency procedures.

• Provide care in a manner that promotes resident dignity, privacy, independence, and choice.

• Communicate respectfully with residents, families, visitors, nurses, and other members of the healthcare team.

• Assist residents with recreational activities and encourage social interaction and participation.

• Protect resident confidentiality and follow HIPAA and all applicable federal, state, and facility regulations.

Qualifications

• Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification in New Jersey.
