Job Overview A law firm seeks an attorney with experience in defending workers' compensation or general liability cases to join their Indianapolis, IN office. Duties Gather and review medical evidence and records. Take depositions of claimants, physicians, and other parties. Conduct discovery and perform legal research. Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other legal documents. Litigate workers' compensation cases before an administrative law judge. Represent employer or insurer interests at various legal proceedings. Assist in accident investigations and problem area analysis. Manage workers' compensation costs to reduce liability. Compile and submit management reports. Negotiate settlements on behalf of the insurance company or employer. Requirements J.D. and admission to the Indiana bar; additional Midwest state bar admission is a plus. Experience in workers' compensation defense or litigation. Knowledge of legal principles and practices. Understanding of local, state, and federal laws and regulations. Experience with Microsoft Word and Outlook; Perfect Law software preferred. Maintain firm and client confidentiality. Education Juris Doctor (J.D.)
