Job Details: Location: Main Campus - Sherman Oaks, CA 91423. Position Type: Seasonal. Education Level: 4 Year Degree. Salary Range: $37.50 - $37.50 hourly. Travel Percentage: Negligible. Brief Description of Position The substitute teacher provides classroom coverage for an absent teacher for an extended period, working the regular hours of the absent classroom teacher. The position reports to the chair of the department, Principal, and Vice Principals. Essential Job Functions Teach content and skills in subject area using the curriculum designated by Notre Dame High School and other appropriate learning activities. Develop lesson plans and supplementary materials compatible with the school’s instructional philosophy and the course/SOL standards; provide individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of students and subgroups. Evaluate academic and social growth of students, prepare report cards, keep attendance reports, checklists, census forms, and other required records. Evaluate each student’s progress in meeting the course standards. Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive classroom environment. Identify student needs and cooperate with other professional staff members to assess and help students solve learning, health, and attitude problems. Communicate with parents and school counselors regarding student progress. Supervise students during assigned out‑of‑classroom activities during the working day. Participate in faculty committees and sponsor student activities. Administer testing in accordance with division testing practices. Model nondiscriminatory practices in all activities. Perform any other related duties as assigned by the Principal or other administrator. Qualifications Follow lesson plans provided by the regular Teacher to create a cohesive and consistent learning experience for students. Manage the classroom effectively to encourage student participation, minimize distractions, and maintain a positive learning environment. Adapt teaching methods to fit the needs of each individual student. Supervise students in and out of the classroom, including in the halls and cafeteria. Provide in‑class and at‑home assignments based on the available lesson plan.
