Teen Parent Specialist II

Overview Responsible for the overall wellbeing, care and supervision of adolescent mothers ages 12‑18, young adults 18‑21 and their children ages 0‑5. The Teen Parent Specialist provides services in a residential setting, using trauma‑informed practices to create a safe and caring environment. The role includes learning life‑skills and parenting curriculum and teaching it to clients in a home‑like setting. The specialist is authorized to take reasonable action necessary to carry out responsibilities assigned, provided actions comply with organizational policies, program guidelines, and sound professional judgment. Responsibilities Plan, lead, and implement parenting, educational, independent living skills, and recreational activities during assigned shifts. Build a positive relationship with each program participant and foster connections with mothers and their children. Manage the group of children assigned to you, enforce agency policies, and uphold youth rights and appropriate discipline. Actively engage participants to foster positive, age‑appropriate development. Meet deadlines and complete documentation accurately, in accordance with state licensing, contractors, and funders. Conduct yourself professionally as a representative of Seton Home with participants, staff, school staff, and others in contact with the role. Maintain positive, culturally competent relationships with residents and staff. Document client progress and interactions via the online database(s). Follow reporting and notification protocols for serious incidents. Administer medication, as needed, to residents and their children. Contribute to the development of resident treatment and service plans in consultation with a supervisor. Learn and practice DFPS Client Youth Rights, Minimum Standards, and contractor/funder requirements. Provide transportation when necessary to airports, courts, activities, hospitals, or other appointments when a transporter is unavailable. Care for tender‑age children 0‑5 if a mother refuses to parent the child. Uphold agency policies regarding professional boundaries with clients. Apply de‑escalation techniques and Emergency Behavior Intervention techniques as trained. Develop a working knowledge of agency policies. Possess maturity, confidence, and emotional stability. Complete all required professional development assignments in a timely manner. Show sensitivity to the service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics. Adhere to safety training and protocols daily, taking precautionary measures to ensure the safety and well‑being of self and others. Protect the confidentiality of client information, services rendered, donor names, internal and external investigation results, and financial information. Follow the Code of Conduct and Faith and Moral guidelines. Maintain a solution‑oriented approach in interactions and collaboration, supporting the mission and vision of the organization. Attend and successfully complete New Employee Orientation and Training; failure to meet this requirement will result in termination.
