Vice President of Operations

POSITION SUMMARY The Vice President of Operations is responsible for ensuring the assigned facilities perform in accordance with Federal and State regulations, established policies and procedures to meet or exceed quality and fiscal standards. Provides leadership and direction for facility management position along with managing staff through motivating, directing, and supporting the region/facilities operating plans to achieve success with company’s relations, revenue enhancement, quality care outcomes, and financial outcomes. POSITION DUTIES: Establishes regional goals based on a thorough assessment of facility and regional leadership, quality care outcomes and fiscal data. Communicates directly with Regional Quality Management Consultants to ensure that quality of care is addressed along with regulatory requirements. Ensures regional accountability for compliance with objectives and validates progress while directing efforts for improvement. Creates a professional environment that values the contributions of each employee and encourages a spirit of cooperation and teamwork to achieve regional goals. Develop a recognition program within the region that recognizes talented employees, facility success, and positive contributions. Communicates recognition during routine visits and regional meetings. Provides leadership, direction, education, and support via routine regional meetings, and/or conference calls. Coordinate internal and external resources to provide an analysis of key initiatives, training to develop skills, and discuss company updates. Recruits, interviews, and hires qualified Administrators and management staff for region. Monitor’s performance and supervises Administrators and management staff completing performance evaluations as needed. Provides mentoring, coaching, and if needed disciplinary action in accordance with policy and procedures. Monitor regional and facility compliance with quality-of-care services. Reviews regional and facility clinical indicators and compliance with the Resident Care Management System and Regional Quality Management Consultants. Provides direction and support for improvement in these areas. Does regular facility visits, typically monthly or as needed. Conducts comprehensive rounds assessing compliance with quality care standards, environmental services, government regulations, and facility policy and procedure. Ensures region and facilities operate in accordance with the Corporate Integrity Agreement reviewing compliance reports, and utilizing compliance tools for education, training, and audits. Attends quarterly governing body meetings and if there are any areas that needs improvement make recommendations and suggestions. Reports minutes to Corporate Compliance Officer. Support the survey/regulatory compliance process by participating in the survey/complaint visits providing supports/direction as needed. Assisting with Plan of Correction process and follow-up. Review monthly financial statements with Administrators and prepare appropriate action plan with Administrators. Has monthly or quarterly financial reviews with Senior VP of Operations Finance and/or VP of Operations Finance. Maintain a detailed action plan of facilities in need of financial improvement. Reviews Accounts Receivable reports and cash flows with Regional Financial Consultants. Conduct on-site Accounts Receivable reviews for identified facilities to ensure region achieves A/R goals. Identifies and pursues self-improvement needs in order to stay current with regulations, company policies, and progressive management philosophies. Ensures that all OSHA and safety standards are followed as applicable to the position and in the business location or workplace. Review daily labor management reports such as: Key Factor Reports or Good Data; NHPPD Dashboard to ensure that the facility is managing labor hours for compliance and overtime management. Ensure that Administrators are having a daily, weekly, and monthly meetings as identified in Administrator’s Guide to life Workbook. Adheres to established HIPAA confidentiality standards of patient/resident and client location information. Travel as required. Performs all other tasks or duties as assigned. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: Core Competencies/Skills Sets: 1. Ability to lead, plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures, etc. that are necessary for providing quality care and maintaining a sound business operation. 2. Ability to apply critical thinking to a variety of situations, assess business objectives, develop, implement, and monitor effective business plans for improvement. 3. Possess knowledge of reimbursement regulations, clinical nursing practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines pertaining to long term care. 4. Ability to work harmoniously with and supervise other personnel while developing/maintaining good personnel relations and employee morale. 5. Ability to make independent decisions, to follow instructions, and to accept constructive feedback. 6. Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and general public. 7. Ability to read, interpret, and analyze applicable financial records and reports. 8. Ability to interpret, communicate and implement policies, procedures, regulation, reports, etc. to personnel, residents, family members, visitors, and government agencies/personnel. 9. Public speaking presentation skills. 10. Sufficient verbal and written communication skills to perform the tasks required. 11. Sufficient computer skills required to perform duties. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications. Professional Experience/Educational Requirements: 1. Minimum of three to five years’ experience in long-term care with multi facility management responsibilities. 2. Bachelor’s Degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or a related field. Certification/Licensure: 1.
