Salary: $20.00 - $22.00/hour
Position Summary: Sisu Youth Services offers shelter, support, and housing for youth experiencing homelessness. Sisu is piloting a NEW workforce readiness program to provide career education paired with individualized job placement and retention support to our clients. The Employment Navigator will conduct outreach to community employers, build relationships with hiring managers, and meet individually with participants to assess career goals and identify employment opportunities.
The Employment Navigator is a non-exempt, full-time employee reporting to the Employment Manager. The Employment Navigator role is part of a team consisting of an Employment Coordinator and an Employment Manager. Employment, compensation, and position continuation are subject to the provisions and/or continuation of grant funding.
Essential Functions:
- Assess participants' skills, interests, values, and goals to help them develop personalized career plans.
- Conduct employer outreach to establish, cultivate, and maintain strong professional relationships across industries.
- Help participants with job placement by identifying suitable job openings, assisting with applications, and preparing clients for interviews.
- Regularly check in with participants to monitor their progress, reassess their goals, and adjust their career plans as needed.
- Conduct follow-up and retention support for job seekers and employers, resolving barriers that impact long-term employment success.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Prepare and maintain complete and accurate documentation of employer contacts, job leads, job seeker progress, interviews, and retention milestones.
- Offer ongoing guidance and motivation to participants, assisting them in overcoming obstacles and maintaining drive.
- Connect participants with the necessary resources and opportunities to achieve their career goals.
- Advocate for our participants, ensuring they can access fair opportunities and necessary accommodations.
- Participate in job fairs, employer tours, community events, and outreach opportunities.
- Research labor market information, economic trends, and hiring forecasts to develop diverse, emerging opportunities for participants.
- Actively participate in case meetings, staff meetings, and interdepartmental coordination.
- Prepare timely and accurate statistical data and reports as required.
- Share employer information and job opportunities with other departments.
- Attend and participate in assigned training and professional development activities, including autonomous upskilling
- Provide transportation for employment-related activities as needed.
- Represent Sisu with excellence when communicating and coordinating with community partners.
- Any other duties related to Employment Support as assigned.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent oral and written communication skills including the ability to tailor communication styles to diverse audiences.
- Must take initiative and hold oneself accountable for completing projects.
- Must be patient, empathetic, and willing to ensure a trauma-informed environment while maintaining boundaries.
- Must be comfortable conducting outreach and independently developing and maintaining relationships with employers.
- Ability to problem-solve creatively and identify practical solutions to barriers impacting employment success.
- Strong ability to organize, prioritize, and communicate effectively about their work and deadlines. Must be detail-oriented.
- Must be flexible for changing program needs and willing to participate in continuous quality improvement.
- Able to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Working knowledge of standard office software, including Google Workspace.
- Commitment to answer phones, texts, and emails daily and respond promptly.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time.
- Ability to use telephone, computer, copy machine, printer, and other office equipment.
- Licensed with a clear driving history, auto insurance, and reliable transportation. Local travel will be required.
Education/Experience:
- 2+ years of experience with career navigation services or intensive individual case management
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience with youth and young adults, LGBTQ+, social services, teaching, case management, or workforce development preferred.
Job Location: Hybrid in the Oklahoma City metro; 60% on-site, 30% in the field, 10% remote
Position Type: Full-time, hourly (40 hours/week)
Scheduled Hours: typically Monday through Friday
Salary Range: $20.00 - $22.00/hour

Sisu receives federal, state, and local funding for program operations. All employees who are paid in full or in part with federal funds must keep specific documents to demonstrate the amount of time they spent on grant activities. (2 C.F.R. Part 200.430(i)(1)) In addition, employees who are paid from state and local funds but whose salaries are used for cost-sharing or matching must also keep time and effort documentation. ( 200.430(i)(4)) Charges to federal awards for salaries and wages must be based on records that accurately reflect the work performed.
