Financial Technical Accountant

This role sits at the intersection of technical accounting, insurance operations, and financial control, with a strong focus on reinsurance processes and contract-driven financial management. You will be responsible for ensuring accurate cash allocation, reconciliation of complex receivables and payables, and compliance with policy terms across multiple client accounts. The position involves close collaboration with underwriting, claims, finance teams, and external clients to resolve discrepancies and maintain financial integrity. You will also support credit control activities, settlement processes, and cash flow optimization within a fast-paced, multi-system environment. Perform credit control activities for reinsurance receivables and payables, including account reconciliation and balance validation. Manage financial settlements with clients in accordance with contractual terms, ensuring timely and accurate cash flow execution. Collaborate with underwriting, claims, finance teams, and external clients to resolve discrepancies, missing data, and transactional issues. Work effectively with offshore teams to ensure alignment, consistency, and timely completion of accounting processes. Support ad-hoc financial, technical accounting, and operational projects as assigned to meet business needs. Requirements: Minimum of 2 years of experience in insurance, reinsurance operations, or finance/accounting roles. Strong understanding of insurance or reinsurance contract language and financial terms. Experience with cash allocation, credit control, or reconciliation processes strongly preferred. Proficiency in Excel and ability to work across multiple systems and datasets simultaneously. Familiarity with accounting systems such as Great Plains or Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365) preferred. Strong analytical skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple deadlines, prioritize tasks, and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment. Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred, or equivalent industry experience.
