Program: SBCS' Before and After School Programs (BASP) work with local schools to provide safe environments for students to engage in extended learning and recreational activities provided for by the ASES and ASSETS grants. BASP programs include homework support, organized sports, arts activities and a multitude of academic activities in an environment parents can rely on to be safe daily until 6 p.m. These programs are housed in both traditional public and charter schools from 1st- 12th grades Position Summary :
Under the direction of the Program Director and Department Director, the BASP Program Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the overall management, supervision, planning, and implementation of the Before and After School Program (BASP) at assigned sites. This includes ensuring high-quality program delivery and compliance with all contractual, funding, and regulatory requirements. The BASP Program Coordinator provides leadership, support, and coaching to Site Supervisors to help establish, implement, and achieve program goals and performance expectations. The coordinator also works collaboratively with the SUHSD Site Coordinator, the SUHSD Athletics Department, and school site administration to coordinate services, align program operations with school priorities, and support the successful implementation of after-school programming. The BASP Program Coordinator also collaborates with agency departments to ensure BASP programs are aligned with SBCS policies, agency-wide procedures, funding requirements, and best practices. This collaboration supports consistent program quality, continuous improvement, and the effective delivery of services across all assigned sites Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

- Provide leadership and oversight for assigned Before and After School Program (BASP) sites to ensure high-quality, safe, and engaging programming.
- Monitor and manage program budgets in collaboration with Site Supervisors and School Site Coordinators, ensuring responsible use of program resources.
- Monitor program data collection, attendance, performance metrics, and required reporting to ensure compliance with district, state, and funding requirements.
- Coordinate and maintain collaborative relationships with district BASP staff, school administrators, and district State and Federal program personnel.
- Recruit, interview, hire, onboard, train, supervise, coach, and evaluate Site Supervisors and program staff.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and collaborative team environment that promotes employee engagement, professional growth, and accountability.
- Conduct regular staff supervision, performance evaluations, and coaching sessions while recognizing employee achievements and addressing performance concerns.
- Ensure programming is delivered using culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and youth development best practices.
- Monitor enrollment, recruitment, attendance, and retention goals, providing guidance and support to Site Supervisors to maximize program participation.
- Monitor the quality and consistency of coaching provided to site staff and ensure implementation of continuous quality improvement practices.
- Ensure academic enrichment, homework assistance, recreation, and youth development components are implemented with fidelity and align with district and program standards.
- Model and coach effective classroom management, instructional strategies, positive behavior supports, and relationship-building practices for Site Supervisors and direct service staff.
- Conduct regular site observations and program quality assessments, providing written feedback, recommendations, and corrective action plans when needed.
- Support Site Supervisors in developing and maintaining strong collaborative relationships with school administrators, teachers, School Site Coordinators, families, and community partners.
- Plan, coordinate, and facilitate professional development and staff trainings that strengthen instructional practices, youth engagement, safety, compliance, and leadership skills.
- Develop and maintain partnerships with community organizations, businesses, and local agencies to enhance program offerings and expand available resources.
- Identify and develop community resources and referral networks that support students, families, and program objectives.
- Ensure compliance with agency policies, licensing requirements, district regulations, grant requirements, and applicable state and federal guidelines.
- Assist in the development, implementation, and evaluation of program goals, strategic initiatives, and continuous quality improvement efforts.
- Respond to program concerns, parent inquiries, staff issues, and school site needs in a timely, professional, and solution-focused manner.
- Participate in leadership team meetings, department meetings, staff meetings, district meetings, and assigned committees.
- Prepare reports, maintain accurate documentation, and complete administrative duties as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the mission and goals of the Before and After School Program.
- Adhere to agency client confidentiality, HIPAA, and mandated reporting policies.
- Coordinates with other SBCS Directors and programs
- Attend all agency required meetings and training.
- As other duties assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Child Development, Psychology, Social Work, or related field.
- Must have a minimum of five years of experience with ASES or ASSETS programming.
- Previous management experience, including contract compliance and staff evaluation.
- Prior experience working and/or collaborating with school districts.
- Ability to supervise and manage staff off-site and possess excellent communication skills.
- Must have strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must possess strong critical thinking, problem solving skills and handle crises effectively.
- Must possess initiative, ability to set goals, and prioritize while being highly organized.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams.
- Bilingual - English and Spanish, preferred.
- Ability to work with a diverse population, possess cultural sensitivity, and maintain appropriate boundaries with clients.
- Employment may be conditioned upon satisfactory completion of certain background clearances which may include a Department of Justice criminal background check requiring my fingerprints (Live Scan), screening through the National Sex Offender Public Website, drug test, tuberculosis (TB) test, and such additional clearances as may be required under the program.
- Candidate is required to have reliable transportation; therefore, the candidate must successfully complete a motor history check. Candidate must also possess and maintain a current valid California driver's license and valid auto insurance policy.
- Mentally and emotionally: Ability to work under deadlines, various projects and dealing with clients in crisis and difficult situations.
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position during shift.
