Advanced Heart Failure And Transplant Cardiologist Program Director
HCA Florida North Florida Hospital, in collaboration with UCF College of Medicine (UCF COM) and a respected private practice, is excited to announce the launch of a new ACGME-accredited Cardiovascular Disease fellowship program set to begin in 2027. We are seeking an Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiologist to join our growing cardiology initiative and provide visionary leadership, mentorship and oversight to our new Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship Program as Program Director.
Clinical duties include providing advanced heart failure, general cardiology, and mechanical circulatory support care in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Participation in multidisciplinary heart failure and cardiogenic shock programs is required. Candidates will help develop an Advanced Heart Failure Network regionally across a 15 hospital division of HCA North Florida Division. Responsibilities also include interpreting echocardiograms and performing other cardiac procedures as appropriate to subspecialty training, sharing in attending responsibilities for general cardiology and advanced heart failure inpatient services, and participating in clinical research and quality improvement initiatives.
Educational leadership involves serving as Program Director for the Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship Program, overseeing curriculum development, trainee recruitment, evaluation, and progression, mentoring fellows and residents in clinical and scholarly activities, fostering a culture of academic excellence, professionalism, and innovation in cardiovascular education, and collaborating with institutional UCF COM Graduate Medical Education leadership to ensure program compliance and continuous improvement.
Research and academic activities include engaging in clinical or translational research in heart failure, transplantation, or general cardiovascular medicine, contributing to peer-reviewed publications and presentations at national meetings, and supporting grant development and scholarly collaboration within the Division and Department.
Candidate qualifications include an MD or DO degree, board certification in Cardiovascular Disease, completion of an ACGME-accredited Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology fellowship, eligibility for medical licensure in Florida, at least three years of documented educational and/or administrative experience in an ACGME-accredited internal medicine residency or cardiovascular disease fellowship, proven ability to balance administrative leadership with hands-on teaching and clinical care, strong interpersonal, communication, and team-building skills, and demonstrated scholarly activity.
